Everyone has been so obsessed with highlighters that blushes have taken a back seat! I love a good glow on my cheeks, but a rosy flush is sometimes nice, too. When it comes to blush, I always prefer either a warm, peachy/coral color, or a cool, pale pink, which both look nice on my skin tone (light to medium brown skin). I recently received Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Glow Duo ($42) (c/o Influenster), in ‘Kink & Kisses‘ (color 504), which perfectly combines my two favorite blush tones.
The new Marc Jacobs Air Blush got its inspiration from several things. First, the sleek, black compact was modeled after a vintage cigarette case, and the striped pattern inspired by one of the designer’s own dresses. The blush itself was inspired by his friend, celebrity makeup artist Way Bandy, and late nights at Danceteria. It was designed to give your cheeks a natural flush, like when you’ve just finished hitting the dance floor. The blush comes in five shades: COLOR 500 Lush & Libido – petal pink/ orchid pink, COLOR 502 Lines & Last Night – creamsicle/ deep tangerine, COLOR 504 Kink & Kisses – pale petal/ peachy rose, COLOR 506 Flesh & Fantasy – ivory shimmer/ goddess bronze and COLOR 508 Night Fever & Hot Stuff – cherry/ deep plum. Each compact contains two complementary, luminous hues (Kink & Kisses is a mix of pale petal/ peachy rose) that highlights and contours cheeks. It’s perfect for ‘draping’ – a new blush technique that helps highlight the natural ‘drape’ of your face.
This lightweight blush goes on easily, and smoothly. I only needed about two or three strokes of my blush brush to achieve naturally rosy cheeks and a soft glow. Marc Jacobs Air Blush promises 24 hour wear – I can attest to at least 8 hours before I washed it off. I love that it’s super lightweight, yet it still delivers the color payoff you want and need from your makeup. And it looks so natural! Plus, with the two colors, you can mix and match and ‘customize’ the colors you want to wear, day after day. No two blush looks will be the same, and for someone who prefers a different look every day, that’s nice to have in a product.
