CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. Congratulations to Anna S. – you are the winner of the $100 Shopbop gift card! Thanks to all who entered and stay tuned to What’s Haute for some great holiday contests and giveaways, starting in the next few days!!!
Hello, What’s Haute readers.
We have something special for you today! We’re giving away a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card to one lucky commenter who tells us about their favorite Marc Jacobs handbags from Shopbop.com and why. The most creative comment wins, so make sure you tell us how you’d style your outfit, too!
What’s so special about Marc Jacobs handbags?
Yes, the man who has done everything–from shoes and scarves, to perfume and ready-to-wear–also does bags. (Like we had to tell you.) And, just like his other creations, these pieces come infused with the Marc Jacobs signature splash of style. Bold, rich colors? Of course. A woodland creature tote? Check.
MJ has two different handbag lines: Marc by Marc Jacobs (vibrant and funky) and Marc Jacobs Collection (decidedly more grown-up). Between the two, the range of outfit opportunities is as varied as the bags. Celebutantes consistently carry his bags in jeans and couture.
But, what really matters is what you’d do with one, because if you win this giveaway, you’ll get a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card so you can start shopping right away for your new obsession. Just tell us which Marc Jacobs handbag is your favorite and how you’d style it.
Best comment wins!

I could sit here all day long and tell you all the reasons I like Marc Jacobs. He’s my fashion god and can do no wrong. I would be really hard pressed to try to pick one favorite.
I really like the Twisted Q Riz Bag in red and the Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo in purple. Both look like great bags for everyday. The Miss Marc Tote would be perfect for running errands and casual weekend use. I’d have to pick the Marc by Marc Jacobs Metallic Twisted Q Baby Groovee Bag for evening because it’s such a stunning bag.
The thing about Marc Jacob’s designs are that they are unique, but not over the top. He includes little features and eclectic touches that set him apart from any other designer. I find his designs to be very versatile though which is why I like him best!

Classic Q Drawstringy Satchel in the grape color is my fave. I’m a sucker for leather satchels, and the awesome color seals the deal! I’d style it for daytime wear-to-work with Frye’s Matilda button tall boots, and a black dress like Milly’s
column cashmere dress. So pretty! So perfect for fall! Thanks for the giveaway…

I absolutely love the Classic Q Jessica Marc by Marc Bag. It’s so versatile– it exudes a chic, sophisticated look; yet, can also be worn casually with the right wardrobe. My favorite part of this bag is it’s large size. It is perfectly shaped to cover any flubbers around the belly stored from winter hibernation. Sigh…I love thee.

A Fairytale about Flights of Fancy.
There lived once a girl whose parents named her Fancy. Fancy’s family was very poor but she was a very smart girl who got a scholarship to one of those “Upper East Side” schools where girls do not call each other by their names, just their initials. There was a C who only carried Chanel to school, or a V who loved her Valentino, and a G who flaunted Gucci. “What is your name?” asked C when Fancy walked in the classroom. “And more importantly, Who do you carry?” interrupted her L, who preferred to be called LV. “My name is Fancy, and the bag is my own design,” uncertainly replied Fancy. “There is nothing fancy about you or your bag!” said B, who carried the latest Balenciaga. “We will call you F, for that is the only grade you will get in school, and you better bring a designer bag to school tomorrow, if you want to make it through high school!” said D, who was a big fan of Dior. ” At least she had a choice between a Fendi or a Ferragamo…” whispered Y, who was still saving for her YSL.
Any other girl would be really worried but Fancy was really smart and self confident. She spent several days working on her own design bag and she wasnt about to give it up. She heard of a competition for young designers that were encouraged to submit their patterns to Marc Jacobs, and he would choose the best one for his new handbag collection. Fancy submitted her nature-inspired humourous design because she loved that Jacobs combined the classical elements with a more youthful style.
The next day, at school all the girls have cornered Fancy. “You brought your own bag again?” asked V. “Well, actually, this bag is called Flights of Fancy, and it is a part of Marc Jacobs line now. And my name is Fancy, not F!” replied brave girl and went on her way. She was wearing a really cute dark navy Cherry Blossom dress from Marc collection and velvet navy side tie booties by Marc as well.

I am totally in love with the Classic Q Baby Groovee Satchel. First off, it is purple! Adorable! It would be fun and flirty with a cute pair of jeans but can also be dressed up to pop with that sexy little black dress we all have.

Hi! I looked at every handbag. I have to agree wholeheartedly with the Editor’s Pick
” Classic Q Drawstringy Satchel Style #:MARCJ21950 “. I just love it!! It’s feminine, which I always love. But, it’s also so versatile. I’d wear it with a suit for work as easily as with jeans on the weekend. Of course, now I want it!! Time to save my $$. Thanks.

I’m absolutely in love with the Classic Q Drawstringy Satchel in grape juice. It’s design is simplistic yet the color is bold enough to make a statement. It could be used to accessorize an outfit or beautiful enough to be the centerpiece. I would match it with a boyfriend sweater, tights and over the knee boots for a casual stroll in time for autumn!

My favorite is the Pretty Nylon Tate tote in Parsnip Multi. Why? Because at 30% off its a very affordable $138.60… and nothing looks and feels better than a quality piece at a price that feels like a steal! And with another $100 off, only $38.60… that just seems all sorts of wrong (but oh so right?). Not only is the price right, but the bag is super usable. As a student I’d, only use this, say, 5-7 days out of the week (!) for school. Oh yeah, and until it pretty much falls apart, don’t believe me? Tell that to my $10 Marc by Marc Jacobs special items tote being held together by mere threads (hey, at least distressing IS in style).
I love the print on the bag (just look at the close up on Shopbop, its adorable), it would fare well paired with anything from a nice boho styled floral babydoll to a classic slouchy tee with cut off jeans shorts.. or even the (gasp) dreaded sweatpants and sweatshirt.. but lets just hope that pairing doesn’t occur (though as a full time student I can’t make any promises)!
Thank you so much for the chance to win, keeping my fingers crossed!

Ah…Marc Jacobs. I have been enamored with his creations since high school, but have yet to own one myself. One of the things I love best about him is the whimsy and playfulness he brings to the fashion world: Throw off the stuffy, fussy image of high-fashion when Marc Jacobs comes to town!
For instance, I love his “Flights of Fancy Shopper” bag: Gorgeous, high quality leather that features an idyllic nature scene with an apple tree, owl, and soaring birds overhead. When your day’s got you down, all you have to do is look at your purse and how can you help but grin when you see a little raccoon cartoon smiling back at you? Roomy, you could take this bag with you everywhere and hold everything–a weekend of shopping, a casual dinner out, or even add some punch to a boring work outfit with this spunky bag.
My ideal outfit would pair it with some dark-rinse skinny jeans, a soft jewel-toned sweater, simple jewelry and one of my favorite pairs of flats. I’d let the purse do the talking for me. What would it say? “Hello, world. Let’s be friends!” (Err… or something like that!)
