Oh, 2020. Are we tired of talking about this year yet? Because of everything that’s going on, it seems it’s all we can talk about. It’s the year we want to forget, but the year we’ll never forget. I had big plans. Travel plans, mostly. And now a list of places I didn’t go. And other plans for this year. None of them panned out. I am the proud owner of a big, beautiful, but empty 2020 planner. Go figure.
I was going to run my first 10K race. Postponed. Scheduled a weekend in NYC in early March. Cancelled. I planned to travel to Paris and Nice (two of my favorite places in the world) once again, this time to celebrate a milestone birthday. Cancelled. I also planned to take a quick trip to the place I’ve been dreaming about for almost a decade now: Iceland. Cancelled. Rome and Tokyo were also on my list. Both cancelled.

I wanted to visit my family much more than I have been able to. And to go on my annual girls trip with my friends. But, 2020. With COVID running wild, most countries and borders are closed to US citizens, so all of those big travel plans are toast!
Last year I didn’t get to travel abroad, but I did visit a few places throughout the US. I went to Vegas and partied it up with friends, and completed the trip with a bang: seeing Janet Jackson live in concert. I also traveled to Nashville and Lynchburg, TN for the first time with my homegirls. If I had known how this year would turn out, I definitely would have traveled more last year! Hindsight is 2020 — literally.
But even though there are plenty of places I didn’t go this year, I’ve made a ton of other major, forward moves in my life; career, personal life, business, and other areas of opportunity. It’s all about forward movement, right? So there’s that. Really, I can’t complain. I am truly blessed. But I am also anxious to explore the world again!
Who’s ready to hop on a plane/train/bus and go somewhere right now? Where would you travel right now if you could?
