I don’t like to assume that all girls love girly things, but most of the girls I know do. (Myself included, of course.) This time of year is the best time to mix my love for all things girly with holiday trends, which also happens to make great gift ideas. I feel like I’m covered in trends in this look, but sometimes you just gotta go big or go home, right?!

Here are three holiday trends and gift ideas to get into this season:

Velvet:

People have mixed feelings about wearing velvet. Typically they either love it or hate it. It’s definitely not a year-round fabric, but it makes for great holiday pieces. Think velvet dresses, leggings, and blazers. And this year designers have transitioned the fabric into fun accessories too, like over-the-knee boots and quilted shoulder bags. If you’ve ever been on the fence about wearing velvet, now’s the time to go for it. Here’s a roundup of velvet pieces to get you started:

Acrylic/Lucite/resin minaudieres:

As my photographer knows all too well, I’m obsessed with these bags. She’s photographed me with a bunch of them. I’m either wearing a new one, or looking for a new one. Of course you can rock them all year long and not just during the holiday season, but they make the perfect statement when accessorizing your holiday outfits. Berets:

Fedoras had their moment, as did beanies. But this year, it’s all about the beret. You can rock ’em plain, colorful, in leather, embellished, and embroidered.
