Last year, everywhere you looked on social media, it was hashtag everything goals. Relationship goals. Body goals. Bag and shoe goals. Hair goals. Career goals. Life goals. Goals AF.
Well, 2016 is over but I’m still all about the goals. It may sound cliché, but I love the promise of new opportunities that each New Year brings. I stopped making New Year’s resolutions and instead focus on achieving set goals, which I’ve always felt was more doable. Cause let’s be real – the moment you hear the word “resolutions,” doesn’t it almost feel like a promise that you won’t achieve them?! Goals, however, are attainable; not some lofty idea that gets stale after January 31. I’ve always been one to keep a to-do list of my goals (some current, some long-terms and some that change over time) on everything from looseleaf paper (waaaay back in the day) to one of my many journals and notebooks (who else is obsessed with them?) to the Notes app on my phone. I’ve heard that you’re much more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down, and sometimes sharing them helps them manifest. So below is a list of a few of my 2017 #goals! At the end of the year I’ll circle back and let you know what I achieved.
Continue to grow closer to God: my relationship with God is central to my life, so this is one goal that doesn’t even need to be written down!
Get my skin in shape: I treated my skin so poorly last year; this year I hope to get it back on track. Stay tuned for some upcoming skincare posts.
Get myself in shape: This is an ongoing goal. I’m actually working on it right now and will share details on What’s Haute soon.
Get more sleep: This has been a struggle my entire life – I’m a night owl! But sleep is so crucial to everything, so I plan to start checking in earlier each night.
Embrace my natural hair: I started my natural hair care journey over two years ago but have yet to fully embrace my natural curls. I plan to do so this year – stay tuned!
Dedicate more time to self: Self-care is so important for keeping yourself centered and to recharge yourself, so I plan to do more of this.
Visit Paisley Park: What can I say – I love Prince! RIP
Attend the US Open: I’ve been wanting to attend for years and never had the chance. I want to make it happen this year.
Go to Iceland: I’ve been wanting to visit Iceland way before it became the cool place to visit. I had a layover there a few years ago but it was nighttime and we couldn’t leave the airport anyway, so it doesn’t count. But I plan on making it to ‘space on Earth’ sometime this year.
Get back into performing improv: I love the opportunity to be funny and not take life so seriously.
Grow my YouTube channel: I’ve just gotta master Final Cut Pro. :-\
Go back to France: Because Paris and Nice are two of my favorite places on Earth!
See J. Lo and Pitbull in concert: Preferably, together.
Prepare to launch a thing or two: I’m keeping this to myself for now, stay tuned!
I’ve got a few more 2017 #goals but I’m keeping those to myself for now. 😉
