I grew up in the era of TLC and Aaliyah, so crop tops and baggy jeans were pretty much my (and my generation’s) standard uniform. Plus, in high school I worked at Merry-Go-Round and Dr. Denim, two stores that catered to the TLC/Aaliyah crowd, so most of my wardrobe was sourced from there, and other stores like them. As I got older, I never grew out of wearing crop tops, and I still love to rock one every now and then. I don’t feel like they’re are solely for the younger generation – it’s just how I wear it that has changed as I got older. Back in the day, I had no problem baring my belly – hey, it was flat and I was younger! These days I’m a little more conservative when it comes to clothes, so I’ll pair my crop tops with high-waist jeans, pants or skirts. That way I’m just showing a little sliver of skin. In cooler weather, I like to layer my crop tops with long-sleeved shirts. For example, I’ll pair a cropped tee with a long-sleeved white blouse, or a cropped sweater with a chambray shirt. Or, I’ll throw on a cape blazer over a crop top, paired with high-waist leggings. There’s so many ways to wear a crop top and With so much versatility, they’ll always have a place in my closet!

I absolutely love crop tops. Short sleeved, long sleeved, doesn’t matter. When they first came out I was adamantly opposed to wearing them but now I’m obsessed and enjoy how I can switch my style up with them.

Sounds like we are of the same generation. I don’t exactly have the midsection for a crop top but I love the way that you styled this Pepsi crop.
