My taste in fashion has changed over the years (as it should). In my twenties, I was more interested in fast fashion – I’d buy a new top or outfit just to wear to the club on a Friday night. I’d get a little more wear out of these party clothes but they weren’t sustainable. And my career as a scientist didn’t require any fancy clothes either – most of my co-workers came to the lab in jeans and a T-shirt. When I entered the corporate world in my thirties, that’s when I began to appreciate more classic clothes and investment pieces. Don’t get me wrong – I still occasionally like fast fashion items but I buy more classic pieces now.
I picked up this black and white striped blouse a few months ago and it was well worth the $25 investment (it’s now on sale for $14.99). Like a fine wine, it pairs well with everything! Everything in my closet, that is. I’ve worn it with mixed prints, denim, skirts, dresses and pants. I’ve worn it to business meetings, church, on date night and running errands. It truly is one of those pieces that every woman needs in her closet!
To give you an idea of how to rock it, I styled this blouse three ways:
Look 1 – With cropped jeans
This blouse is the perfect layering piece. Tuck it under your favorite chunky knit sweater for a textural contrast, and pair it with some animal print pumps for a fun dose of print mixing.
