Have I mentioned that the Christmas holiday season is my favorite time of year? I’m sure I have, because year after year, it’s always the holiday I look forward to the most! Growing up, Christmas was always a HUGE event in my family. Of course when we were younger, my brother, sister and I would bake cookies and leave them, with other snacks and egg nog, for “Santa” (our parents). On Christmas morning, my brother would wake us all up at the crack of dawn and we’d rush downstairs to open our gifts, dig into the candy in our stockings, and lay around watching movies and listening to Christmas music all day. Later in the evening, we’d head over to my Grandmom’s house where the entire family would meet for dinner and to share even gifts.
Now that we’re older, our holiday traditions have changed a little bit. We still bake cookies – we just all eat them now, of course! And instead of rushing downstairs on Christmas morning, we open all of our gifts together the night before and sleep in on Christmas Day. We still spend the rest of the day watching holiday movies, and then making/having a big dinner and game night with our extended family.
Even with the changing traditions, the one thing that has always remained constant for me is a cup of tea. I love to have a cup of Bigelow tea to help me relax after a long day, and there’s no better time than during the holiday season. I drink it with every holiday occasion, whether I’m wrapping gifts, watching TV or holiday movies with my family, having a big family dinner, or just curled up on the couch after all the excitement has died down!
I recently picked up a few boxes of Bigelow Constant Comment I found in the tea aisle at Walmart. I always go for a strong black tea but I especially love a seasonal flavor. Yes, Constant Comment is sold year round, but there’s something about the spiced orange flavor and scent that makes me crave it during the holiday season. I love to add fresh cinnamon sticks to my cup of tea for extra rich, bold flavor. Plus, the scent of cinnamon mixed with sweet and spicy citrus makes my house smell so yummy and festive!
What are your holiday traditions? Do you enjoy a cup of tea during the holidays? Which tea do you prefer?
