I may like to pile on the accessories but when it comes to my beauty routine, I strongly believe less is more. In my younger days, I used to experiment with a lot of different types of makeup. And back then (gosh, I sound so ancient!), it seemed like makeup options for coverage only included a heavy foundation that once applied, left you looking like you were wearing a face full of nude paint.

Now makeup is much simpler and lighter – thank goodness! Because my face is oily in the T-zone, I like to keep a light, matte powder at hand to keep the shine at bay. I usually use a bronzer to give my skin a glow during the winter months, but I love to use light, matte foundations and powders, too. I recently got the chance to try Lancôme’s Dual Finish powder compact and I have to say, it’s my new fave beauty product! Before applying, I first cleansed my face (it’s always best to start with a clean palette). Then I added a light moisturizer as a base to hit the dry areas, and then applied the Dual Finish powder in Bisque. It went on very smooth and sheer, and felt super light. After applying it all over my face, it gave a natural matte finish. I could easily add a smokey eye, light blush, and lipstick for a full makeup look, or simply just wear the matte powder with a nude lip. It’s versatile enough that it can be used as a base for other makeup, or just worn by itself for a more natural look. Also, it can be applied to dry or wet skin, giving you even more coverage options!
