After the excitement of the Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show, I headed down to the cosmetics department for my Smashbox Cosmetics appointment. I was so looking forward to not only having a makeover, but a photo shoot with celebrity and fashion photographer Steven Khan!
I took a seat with Goldie, a Smashbox makeup artist, and she got to work creating a dramatic look for me. I love smoky eyes, but spring/summer 2013 is all about color, so she created a smoky eye using blue shades from the new Photo Op Eyeshadow Trio in Skybox. The result was amazing, and very easy to recreate. Use the end of your eyebrow as your guide for how far to extend the darkest shade in your outer corner. To brighten eyes, make sure you use a light color in your inner corner. Lining both top and bottom lash lines will give you a more dramatic effect. To create longer, more intense lashes, Goldie used Smashbox Lash Primer before applying mascara.
After my eyes were done, the focus was on achieving flawless skin. Goldie used Smashbox’s new CC Cream over Hydrating Primer to create a flawless and dewy look. If you’ve never heard of CC cream, it stands for ‘color correcting’ and it’s like BB cream kicked up a notch.
A nude lip completed the look and I was ready to sit down with Steven Khan for my photo shoot. I was so excited for the shoot, especially after having a makeover – you really do feel like a model! I felt really comfortable with Steven. He told me how to position my head, where to look, and I left with a disc of 89 photos!
Smashbox Cosmetics has a lot of great new colors for summer, and if you haven’t tried the CC cream yet, you’re going to love it.
