Writing can be a 24/7 job. It’s easy to stay up late at night doing research, writing and editing stories, as well as staying active and posting updates on social media channels. Add to that event coverage and post-event write-ups, plus interviews and keeping track of it all and it’s very easy to get stressed! I decided a long time ago that I would not let my work create stress in my life. I do what I can in the time that I have and don’t try to create unrealistic goals or deadlines for myself. I keep track of meetings and appointments in my smartphone, where I can also check my emails, which I try to respond to as soon as I possibly can. Keeping track of things helps relieve stress. Also, taking a breather does as well. Sometimes a mini break from work is all I need to simplify my life and get things back on track. Anything from reading a book, to getting a mani-pedi or going on a weekend getaway are things I like to do to keep myself centered and my life, simple!
