Fashion In Question: Why do these Gucci canvas sneakers cost $556?

It’s been a long time since we’ve splurged on a pair of sneakers. Our splurges these days go towards designer handbags and fancy footwear. Still, we’re no strangers to purchasing a haute pair of kicks. But typically a sneaker splurge would range from $100-$200, max. And, they’d be leather. And, they’d have to have some bells and whistles – like an air pump, some crazy sole or Michael Jordan or LeBron James‘ likeness on them. They wouldn’t be plain and simple white canvas sneakers. So when we spotted these Gucci white canvas cap toe sneakers, retailing for $556, we couldn’t help but be confused. They’re nothing more than basic canvas sneaks with just a sliver of red and green Gucci webbing on the side. Does that alone justify the price tag?
