There are some beauty products that reach a level to where they have a devoted, almost cult-like following. One of the beauty products that I’ve always been intrigued with, but had yet to try, has just that type of fan base. If you haven’t guessed, I’m talking about La Mer, and the coveted Crème de la Mer. At a recent beauty trend show at Nordstrom, I finally got the opportunity to really delve into the brand and I have been diving deeper into La Mer ever since.
The history of La Mer is really interesting. After suffering burns in a lab accident, aerospace physicist Max Huber developed a “Miracle Broth” using sea kelp and a bio-fermentation process. It took 12 years for Max to perfect the broth. What we have now, 40 years later, is Max’s true miracle cream. Crème de la Mer encourages healing, soothing, and nourishing of the skin.
I was fortunate to meet a wonderful sales associate at the La Mer counter at Nordstrom named Stacey Morrotta, who has been wonderful about educating me on the different La Mer skincare products (like the best way to apply it, as there is an activation process that is crucial), and has provided me with a bevy of samples to try. I have been using La Mer for close to a month now and I will say I am very impressed. I have seen dramatic changes in my skin. Marks from previous breakouts have faded, fine lines have plumped up, my skin tone has evened out, and I’ve noticed an overall luminosity. I also love the texture and the luxurious feel to the crème. My skin feels like silk after applying it.
Summer is a great time to give La Mer a try. La Mer ‘The Moisturizing’ Gel Cream is a lighter formula of the original, and is perfect for the warmer weather. I’ve been using The Moisturizing Gel Cream as my daily moisturizer and using the Crème de la Mer at night.
