One show we look forward to every Fashion Week is Toni Francesc. The Spanish designer, now showing for his fourth season at New York Fashion Week, often uses the elements as inspiration for his vibrant and colorful collections. This season is no different. His upcoming Fall/Winter collection, GARUDÀ, is a modern-day interpretation of the legendary Phoenix – a bird with red plumage that is said to burn in its flames and rise from its own ashes every 500 years. Francesc’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection is centered around fire and ashes, featuring gold, orange and red colored silks to exemplify luminosity and incandescence, paired with ash gray and black wool, representative of combustion. Silhouettes curve like flames, with body-conscious shapes alongside straight forms and clean lines.
