\nThe past few months have been all about wedding planning! But not for me \u2013 for my sister! She’s getting married soon, and since I’m her matron of honor, I’ve been busy helping her with all of the fun stuff: bride-to-be party planning, wedding gown and bridesmaid dress shopping, and styling accessories, makeup and hair. The latter part has been the most fun. Since all the important stuff is already done, we’ve just been playing around with makeup ideas and different wedding hair styles. Her only request was that we wear our hair away from our faces. My mind immediately went to ‘low chignon’ because it’s one of the more popular go-to wedding hair styles. And the way I like it is the messier, the better!<\/p>\n

I recently got to try out a new haircare line, Garnier Whole Blends<\/a>, to prepare my hair for test-styling my wedding look. I picked up the Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care Honey Treasures<\/strong> line at Walmart. (You can find it on the in-store display at the end cap of the shampoo aisle). The three products I picked up were the Repairing Shampoo, Repairing Conditioner and Repairing Mask. There are six Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care collections, but this particular trio of products was best for my hair since it’s designed to repair damaged hair. Since I’ve been going natural without doing the ‘big chop,’ my hair is healthy at the roots and along the hair shaft, but my remaining relaxed ends are adding to the damage. So I couldn’t wait to test these repairing products out!

Garnier’s Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care<\/strong> products are sweetly scented, thanks to their fragrant formula of royal jelly, honey, and propolis extracts, which also contribute to strengthening hair and help prevent split ends and breakage. Great hair care products are like great skincare products to me. They\u2019re the real foundation beneath all the styling, spritzing, spraying and straightening, just like great skincare products lay the foundation for makeup. And this collection what my hair needed!<\/p>\n

To start, I first washed my hair with Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Shampoo<\/strong>. I didn’t have to use too much \u2013 just a squeeze or two in the palm of my hand, and it lathered up pretty nicely.

After washing my hair, I applied the lush, creamy Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Conditioner<\/strong> to my hair, from scalp to ends. I used my favorite wide-toothed comb to comb it through and coat my hair evenly. The conditioner really softened my hair, and made it easy to detangle and manage.

Next, I applied the Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Mask<\/strong>. Typically, conditioner is enough, but if you’re in need of just a little bit of extra repair, this mask is perfect. It features a reconstructing system that helps to repair any damage and brittleness, and strengthens your hair. I left it on for the recommended 3 minutes and then rinsed it thoroughly.<\/p>\n

To begin styling my hair, I blow dried it, rubbed a smoothing lotion on and gathered my ‘tools’ (brush, bobby pins, elastics and headband). I separated my hair with a deep side part, to have a larger bang. Next, I curled a few strands at the front and sides and pulled them forward. I secured the rest of my hair with hair elastics, in a loose, messy low chignon. The great thing about this style is that you don’t have to worry too much about loose strands and keeping your hair sleek. The messier, the better! But even with the messiness, it still looks great for a formal or semi-formal event.<\/p>\n

To add a bit of glam to this style, I threw on an embellished headband\/hair ribbon, which is pretty easy, and cheap, to DIY! First, head to your local craft store and buy a roll of pearls, bling, or whatever suits your style, plus some ribbon and fabric or jewelry glue. Measure the circumference around your head, add a few inches, then cut the ribbon to your desired length. Next, glue the strip of pearls\/bling to most of the ribbon, leaving about an inch or two at both ends so you can tie it and tuck it under your hair. Let it dry, then voila – you’ve got a quick and easy bejeweled headband\/hair ribbon!

Even though I wouldn’t rock this messy chignon on a regular basis, I WILL<\/em> be incorporating Garnier Whole Blends<\/a> into my regular haircare routine! My hair was so soft and manageable after using it, so I can’t wait to see how it continues to repair and improve the state of my hair over time!
