\nNew York Fashion Week<\/a> is one long fashion show, on the runway and off. Prepping for it is almost like preparing for vacation \u2013 a lot goes into planning your outfits and itinerary. I had almost everything lined up except my eyewear. Just before Fashion Week<\/strong>, I broke my only pair of eyeglasses coming home from a trip to Los Angeles. I don’t wear my glasses often, but when I do, it’s because I really need them to see – mainly when driving at night, at the movies and other places I need to see off into the distance – like fashion shows. So I was thrilled when Glasses.com<\/a> reached out and asked if I’d like to try out their new virtual try-on app<\/a> to order a pair of glasses! Perfect timing!<\/p>\n

The online eyewear retailer offers an array of designer glasses and sunglasses, including collections from NYFW’s top designers, like Giorgio Armani<\/strong>, Burberry<\/strong>, Anna Sui<\/strong>, Derek Lam<\/strong>, Kate Spade<\/strong>, Michael Kors<\/strong>, Ralph Lauren<\/strong>, Ray-Ban<\/strong> and Vera Wang<\/strong>. I first browsed through the selections on the site to check out the specs then proceeded to download the app to my iPad.

\nOnce downloaded, the Glasses.com<\/strong> app first asks you to create a username. Then, following the instructions in the demo, I placed the iPad up against my mirror, rotating it from side-to-side while recording my face. When finished, it gave me a 3-D version of my face, which I could approve or re-do. The finished product allows you to ‘rotate your face’ up and down, and side-to-side to make the virtual try-on process feel all the more real!

\nNext, I was asked a series of questions about what types of frames I was looking for, how glasses normally fit me, whether I was shopping for eyeglasses or sunglasses and which styles I might wear. Then I got to apply filters based on my gender, brands, colors, styles and type of glasses I liked. The site offers the option of at-home try-on for many of their frames, but after using this app, trust me – you won\u2019t need it! I began to virtually try on a slew of black and tortoise-framed glasses from Anna Sui, Versace, Kensie, Kate Spade and Ray-Ban. I could move my face around in the app so I could really see what the glasses would look like on, and at different angles! The try-on was the easy part \u2013 the hard part was narrowing it down to one pair!

\nI asked friends and followers to help me choose, so I went with a pair of Anna Sui AS514 glasses<\/a>. At the end of the checkout process, I simply uploaded my eyeglass prescription from my optometrist. Later, I received an email asking for one more parameter: my pupillary distance, which I measured myself, following their instructions. (There’s also the option of having them calculating it for you).<\/p>\n

I just received them and they fit my face perfectly!

\nThe entire process was pretty quick \u2013 though it took me several days to decide which pair I wanted to choose, and then a week or so later to get them in the mail since the weather was bad.<\/p>\n
