\nThere’s a very fine line between merging childhood items into adult products without them looking childlike. Case in point – rompers. Designer Yael Friedman<\/strong> used a combo of carved crayon and semi-precious stones to create one kick-ass piece of jewelry – the Case Study in Contemporary Jewelry Crayon Ring<\/strong>. It comes in multiple hues, and we’re partial to the yellow (Dandelion? Goldenrod? Daffodil?<\/a>) and would really like to rock a Burnt Sienna<\/a> version, but there are several other cool colors as well.The designer stated:<\/p>\n

“I view jewelry as an interactive art form, sculptures that call the wearers to touch and explore. This view point opens up infinite possibilities. It is an exploration into the world of toys, and it changes the rules of jewelry design. In my work I am using traditional techniques, and one might say, conservative forms to create pieces that are not only meant to be seen but also to be played and touched. The precious jewelry becomes a toy and the wearer gets a role in the game.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Since the ring<\/a> features a real stone, the price is equivalent to about 100 boxes of 64 Crayola Classic crayons<\/a> – $450. But the good news is, you can wear it AND<\/em> draw some pretty pictures with it too. How’s that for some versatile jewelry?<\/p>\n
