First look: The Carrie Diaries - Meet Carrie before Sex and the City

December 1, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

First look: The Carrie Diaries - Meet Carrie before Sex and the CityWe’re clicking our Louboutin heels anxiously awaiting the the Sex and the City movie sequel. Will Carrie and Mr. Big have a kid? What becomes of Steve and Miranda? Do Charlotte and Harry remain ridiculously happy? Will Samantha ever get married? We’ll soon find out the answers to those questions and more. But in case you were wondering what Carrie and the girls were like before Sex (we can only imagine), get ready because The Carrie Diaries (Hardcover) hits bookshelves this Spring! The book is set to be released on April 27, 2010, a month before “Sex and the City 2” comes out in theaters (on May 28, 2010), so you can get a peek into Carrie’s life as a teen fashionista and high school It girl. Basically she was Blair Waldorf, without the bitchery.

Publisher HarperCollins, which is releasing the prequel (the first of two books by author Candace Bushnell), stated that the book “takes readers back to Carrie Bradshaw’s formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie’s friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer.” We can’t wait!

SJP does NYC perfume

SJP NYC Sarah Jessica Parker perfume fragrance SJP NYC Sarah Jessica Parker perfume fragrance

According to Women’s Wear Daily, Sarah Jessica Parker has a new fragrance in the works called SJP NYC. SJP was inspired by her own character, Carrie Bradshaw. She said she drew upon “people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street”, what feelings that evokes for her and for them, a love for New York City and, fashion of course.

The fruity floral perfume will be released in February 2010 in Macy’s, and will enter an additional 1,500 department and specialty stores once the sex and the City movie sequel hits theaters in May 2010. Notes include mandarin, white osmanthus, strawberry, gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa, rose, sandalwood, vanilla absolute, rum flavor and creamy musks and was developed by Parker in collaboration with perfumer Honorine Blanc.

The collection consists of three sizes of the eau de toilette — 15 ml. for $25, 30 ml. for $35 and 60 ml. for $49.

Covet and Lovely have already made a place on to my dresser. Not feeling the bottle, but I hope to add SJP NYC to my perfume collection too.

Sex is back!

Sex and the City movie filming NYC sarah jessica parker

Our favorite foursome is back filming the sequel to the Sex and the City Movie. Carrie and crew were all spotted around Manhattan shooting scenes for the next film. Even stylist Patricia Field was on hand. I’m so excited for the second movie - I can’t wait for the juicy storylines and to see all the fabulous fashion of course. Sarah Jessica Parker is even recycling that Dior Newspaper Dress for the movie - you know the one that she wore in Season 3 when she met Natasha (Mr. Big’s ex) for lunch. All of you Sex-ista’s will remember what I’m talking about!

Stay tuned for more fashion behind the scenes!

Note to Kristin Davis: you are NOT a fashion designer

September 8, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments

Kristin Davis

Celebrity-branded clothing lines are getting out of control. Just because you love fashion and wear fashion does NOT make you eligible to design fashion. We gotta give props to Lisa Wu-Hartwell from The Real Housewives of Atlanta for admitting that although she has a clothing line, she is no fashion designer because she does not sketch or sew. Thank you Lisa. But I guess Kristin Davis (Sex and the City, Melrose Place) missed the memo. She’s the latest celebrity to think she can ‘design’ a line of clothes. Coming from a show like Sex and the City, you’d expect her fashion game to be fierce, but instead, the clothing line (available at department store Belk) looks frumpy and very non-contemporary. It consists of apparel (tops, dresses, pants and skirts), jewelry, handbags and shoes, none of which will be gracing my closet. Although the collection looks cheap, the prices are not - most of the pieces, (with the exception of the sale items), are priced over $100 a piece!

What do you make of her ‘designer’ collection?

No One Else is MoMoFalana

January 28, 2009 by Seth Friedermann · 1 Comment

momo-falana-dressThe single most effective thing in standing out from others is how you dress. It is entirely possible to attract the attention of dozens of people by simply walking into the room wearing the right thing. The woman who commits to having a style that truly expresses herself without fear will have a huge advantage in getting noticed. In a city as vast and varied as New York it’s very difficult to be unique…oh wait actually it’s not; just go to the corner of Avenue A and East 3rd Street.

MoMoFalana has occupied that address for 9 years. They have been carried by Henri Bendel’s & Barney’s and adorned the lovely shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker in an episode of Sex and the City. Most recently they have caught the eye of Nicole Richie and will be featured in ad campaign for her new perfume. The designs of MoMo Falana’s dynamic duo of Maureen Roberts and Mike Lublin are so stunning because that was priority one, from day one. “We didn’t want any attachment to an established aesthetic”, said Roberts.

Lublin and Roberts are incredibly accomplished dye craftspeople. Their saturated colors and vivid designs are carefully planned out and painstakingly executed. Gorgeous long silhouette dresses that fit and envelop a woman are another hallmark and goal of these dynamic designers. “I encourage women to stop dressing like everyone else, to dress like they have always imagined.” Another testament to their skill is that although each MoMoFalana design is one of a kind, they are the best in the business at matching colors so they can give you the same look that you coveted on your friend!

To wear a MoMoFalana dress is to be unforgettable, their designs create impact. They do all of their own alterations so a flattering fit is a guarantee. Unique, bold and beautiful - all in colors so rich, you could get drunk on them. If you are in NYC be sure to head to the corner of Avenue A and East 3rd Street, where MoMoFalana has cornered the market on stunning.

They’ve been talked about and blogged about and they starred in Sex And The City. They’ve been waited for on waiting lists by the most illustrious fashionistas. They’re expensive and elaborate and as high-heeled as it gets. Every woman with a pair of skinny leg jeans or a pretty frock or an evening gown has to own them, no matter who or how she has to swindle. Use all of your feminine guiles to own these beautiful, sexy, and believe it or not, comfortable shoes. They are the GLADIATOR WORTH FIGHTING FOR.
