Target news bits: Zac Posen, Rodarte and Target To-Go

Mark your calendars: word has it design wonder Zac Posen recently announced he’ll be the next to do a line for Target. We recently got all excited when we told you about his lower-priced line, Z Spoke by Zac Posen, and now Target too? We are so loving all of these high-end designers doing clothes for the masses (at prices for the masses). Look out for it on April 25, 2010 (runs through May 30). Prices are rumored to start at $15. Yes!
While we wait for Zac at Target, get ready to shop the Rodarte for Target line (in stores December 20). The piece we’re craving is the sequin ribcage dress ($49.99). How can you NOT love it? Check out a sneak peek of the rest of the Rodarte for Target collection here.

And if you’re in NYC and don’t feel like hopping a train to the ‘burbs to shop for holiday gifts at Target, don’t fret! Target To-Go, a three-day pop-up shop, is opening December 11. It’s a walk-up holiday shopping event and will stock the hottest mix of 50 holiday gifts - from fashion, beauty, toys to electronics and includes five pieces from the Rodarte collaboration! Walk up and pick up your gifts, already wrapped and ready To-Go!

Target To-Go will be open three days only, from Friday, December 11 through Sunday, December 13, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, at Gansevoort and Washington Streets, at the High Line entrance.

At the opening on December 11, Target will present families in need, chosen by The Salvation Army, with a $100 Target GiftCard for a head start on their holiday shopping.

CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) awards 2009 - winners and losers

The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) awards are all about honoring and recognizing the most talented designers in the fashion industry, but the real fashion winners and losers at the 2009 awards were seen arriving to the event.

Two of the night’s fashion ‘winners’ were Claire Danes and Kerry Washington, who both opted for full-length gowns with plunging necklines. Claire Danes looked chic in a sleek black number designed by friend Narciso Rodriguez. Kerry Washington wore a sparkly silver frock by Doo.ri paired with a silver clutch and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Zoe Saldana kept it simple in a beautiful sheer grey off-the-shoulder Calvin Klein dress and nude T-strap sandals. Diane Kruger wowed in a red Jason Wu minidress with black embroidered shoulder details and also accessorized with T-strap sandals and a navy satin clutch. A very pregnant Heidi Klum shined in a ruched, metallic one-shouldered Michael Kors dress complemented with a metallic clutch and metallic Christian Louboutin ankle-strap pumps.

The night’s fashion ‘losers’ included Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl) who wore a silver top and too short/too tight black skirt by Behnaz Sarafpour and pulled her hair into a high ponytail. Ashley Olsen looked frumpy in an orange vintage gown that was just a bit too large. Perhaps they should have switched?

Vera Wang wore one of her own designs – a gold sequined dress with a white tank, bib necklace, netting at the hem, black tights and chunky black shoes. Can you say “accessory overload”? Kirsten Dunst wore an asymmetrical Rodarte minidress that made her look like a wrapped mummy and her clunky grey shoes would have been more appropriate with a pair of jeans. Rachel Roy also wore one of her own designs – a one-shoulder frock with a pretty print but too much going on at the waist.

Say it Three Times Fast: Rihanna Rocks the Rodarte Diamond Cutout Leggings

Rihanna’s on the comeback tip and she’s determined to make her presence known. As if we didn’t notice her before. With her edgy haircut, attention-grabbing wardrobe and her standard sulky facial expression and full-on pout, how could she be missed? But if all that wasn’t enough, she was spotted in New York City wearing Rodarte’s $920 diamond cutout leggings. Are they leather? Are they latex? Not sure, but these over-the knee babies were worn as tights accessorizing the dresses at Rodarte’s Spring 2009 runway show. But leave it to Rihanna to spice things up and make streetwalker chic look quite hot. Kidding on the streetwalker part - Rihanna looks fierce! Who else could sport a leather jacket/poncho, cutoff denim shorts, drapey ear-to-ear earrings and almost-neon orange lipstick with these leggings? Up for the challenge?
