A rock in a hard place: Ken and Dana Design natural rough amethyst ring

When it comes to jewelry, sometimes we like it rough. Smooth, polished stones are nice, but rough cut gems gives us that little extra edge. The handmade pieces from Ken and Dana Design satisfy our needs.

For their ‘Graffiti’ series, they explored New York’s street art and were drawn to the significance of what was written on as much as the writing itself, and the relationship between the art and New York’s buildings became the inspiration for their “geometry” series.

Though the Geometric Brass Cube ring and Natural Rough Pyrite ring first caught our keen art eye, the Street-inspired Natural Rough Amethyst ring is our personal fave. Equal parts rough and romantic, this purple hued gemstone is pretty despite it’s natural state, but the two-finger style adds a slight bit of a of ‘downtown’ feel.

Affordable luxury: Lisa Freede Element Ring in Platinum

Even if a platinum ring may be out of your reach, you can still rock the Lisa Freede Element Ring in Platinum. Ramona Singer for HSN: gorgeous estate jewelry…gorgeous prices

If you follow my beauty reviews, you’ll recall I recently raved about Ramona Singer of the Real Housewives of New York, and her amazing new skincare line. Well, I’m very excited to let you know all about her gorgeous collection of art deco, estate-inspired jewelry

Ramona is a graduate of FIT with a very extensive background in fashion. Taking influences from her own collection of estate pieces, Ramona has designed a gorgeous collection of earrings, pendants, bracelets, and rings. The pieces are exquisitely detailed in rhodium-plated sterling silver, and are set with various precious and semi-precious stones. In designing her pieces, Ramona wanted to offer affordable, timeless pieces that can be passed down to future generations.

In designing this jewelry line, Ramona really went all-out on the details. Rhodium-plating keeps the jewelry looking brand new, and the pieces are finished very beautifully with intricate details that you don’t see very often in affordable jewelry.

Most pieces average between $200-$500. My personal favorite is the pink topaz and diamond cuff bracelet, which Ramona said was inspired by her own estate piece.
