Get their haute baubles: Rihanna and Katy Perry at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards
March 29, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
BFF’s Rihanna and Katy Perry glammed it up on the orange carpet at Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards. Rihanna wore a Christian Dior dress with nude Brian Atwood heels and sparkly ankle socks, rows oof necklaces and accessorized with a Sutra Jewels diamond ring. Katy Perry wore a very Rihanna-esque outfit - a racy rainbow-colored, corseted chainmail peacock dress by The Blonds. She accessorized with Christian Louboutin sparkly wedge-heeled shoes and a Carrera y Carrera peacock ring.
UPDATE: While performing, Rihanna also rocked David Yurman’s Chevron Black Diamond Tag and Pave Diamond Dogtag necklaces, both in sterling silver.

Donna Karan element silver-tone clutch
January 13, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 4 Comments
Whether or not the stud trend is still going strong or is O-V-E-R is yet to be determined, but there’s one stud bag that for us, will never get old. The Donna Karan Element silver-tone clutch is simply one giant pyramid stud in the form of a clutch, and we couldn’t love it more. Made of metal, the silver tone has an antiqued look, yet remains polished. It’s just the right amount of edge for a Rihanna type, but it’s still a classy piece to hang on the arms of even the most conservative of women. Just how Donna Karan would want it. The bag comes with a gold chain shoulder strap, square structured opening with top clasp and black lining.
Originally priced at $1,530 - now $765 at the Outnet. Click here to buy!
Burberry collabs with Colette to create exclusive new studded trench
January 12, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Bored with the basic Burberry trench? Good news – there’s a brand new, edged up trench in the works. Burberry designed this exclusive trench coat for concept store, Colette and while the tan trench is classic Burberry, the new design is much more modern. Read: punk couture. Ruched and pleated details at the shoulders and front. Gold spiky studs covering the signature tartan print on the underside of the collar. Very Naomi Campbell meets Rihanna. Without the phone throwing and the umbrella, of course.
On sale at Colette, from February 22 – 27. Coats will be priced from 1995 to 2495 euros.

Who rocked it hotter: Rihanna vs. Ciara in the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging Jean
January 11, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
The jean legging (or ‘jegging’) trend has spilled over from 2009 into 2010. Whether you like them or not, jeggings aren’t going anywhere. They’re the perfect alternative to the jean - obviously more comfortable and they also come in a variety of washes and styles, like jeans. Rihanna and Ciara were both seen wearing the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging jeans ($159).
Ciara was first seen in her Charley 5.0 jeggings last summer on the red carpet of the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival’s premiere of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” held in Los Angeles, California. She paired them with a sheer white tank over a pink bra, a layered chain necklace and black Yves Saint Laurent Trib Two Platform Pumps.
Rihanna wore the cotton and polyurethane leggings recently, arriving at LAX Airport with her BFF Melissa and boyfriend Matt Kemp. She paired the jeans with a white knit top, hot pink Givenchy ankle sandals and her Stella McCartney Technical taffeta tote
.
Did you notice both ladies accessorized with pink lips and nails? Guess that’s what happens when you share the same stylist! But who do you think rocked the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging jeans hotter?

Star style: Rihanna and her multiple wardrobe changes
November 11, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
If there’s anyone that can do multiple wardrobe changes without even being on stage, it’s Rihanna. The singer was spotted around town in four, count ‘em – four different looks yesterday.
First, she was spotted leaving MTV Studios in new York City wearing this Alexander McQueen Asymmetric-Stripe Sweater Dress. She was there to tape an interview for It’s On With Alexa Chung.
Rihanna was later spotted on the streets of New York City with her BFF Melissa, in a biker chic look of a black satin biker jacket, black skinny jeans and a black leather biker hat.
That evening, she attended the the 2009 Women of the Year awards hosted by Glamour Magazine at Carnegie Hall. She looked stunning accepting her award in an ivory Stephane Rolland Couture floor length origami dress.
Then she ended the night changing into another floor-length evening gown for the after-party; this time a beautiful blush pink colored dress with a slit “up-to-there”.

Michelle Obama and Rihanna cover Glamour Magazine’s “Women of the Year” issue
November 4, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
Two of our favorite ladies here at What’s Haute, are Michelle Obama and Rihanna, and both are Glamour Magazine cover girls! The December issue marks the 2009 “Women of the Year” and both ladies not surprisingly made the list. Mrs. O is the first First Lady to ever land on the cover of Glamour. She is receiving magazine’s Special Recognition award for mentoring young women. The First Lady stuck to her fashion-savviness for the cover shoot - she wore a red drop-waist flared cocktail dress from her own closet! She spoke with Katie Couric on being the first Black First Lady, her family, pet causes and of course, her relationship with her husband, President Obama. Read Michelle Obama’s Glamour interview here.
Rihanna, another What’s Haute fave, is one of the other Glamour cover girls. The chanteuse finally opens up about domestic abuse and her relationship with Chris Brown, the Believe Foundation that she started, her singing career, her edgy fashion sense and enviable fashion icon status. She wears a black and silver strapless animal-print mini dress from Balmain’s Fall 2009 collection and accessorized the look with studded cuffs.
Rihanna: “Fashion for me is another way I get to express myself creatively. It is one of the fun things I get to do: to play dress-up, and create outfits and looks that aren’t typical. I am an artist, so I like creating things. Shoes are my favorite thing.”
The 2009 Glamour Women of the Year:
•Michelle Obama (Special Recognition)
•Rihanna
•Maria Shriver
•Stella McCartney
•Amy Poehler
•Marissa Mayer
•Serena Williams
•Jane Aronson
•Susan Rice

Haute trend alert: leopard print
October 21, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Everywhere you turn, you’ll see that leopard print is ruling both the runways and the real world. Style-conscious, trendsetting celebrities like Rihanna, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga and the Kardashian sisters rock leopard print accessories and clothing. Even little Suri Cruise donned a pair of leopard print flats. The print works for any woman, at any age, but the key to wearing leopard is to stick to one piece - whether a top or dress; stilettos or booties; handbags or jewelry; even leggings and swimwear. Colored-print leopard adds an extra shot to any look but be careful not to overdo it. Keep the rest of the look in muted tones like basic black or khaki tan, or even a solid tonal colorblock will do. In My Haute Closet: Christopher Kane for Topshop Crocodile Print Dress
September 18, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
It’s no secret that I adore Rihanna’s style. I cover her looks almost daily, dissecting everything from her fierce shades, shoes and handbags, to her clothes and jewelry and even her beauty products! So when I learned that I had the opportunity to snag one of her looks for less, I jumped at the chance. I’m talking about the Christopher Kane for Topshop collection. In stores and online today, the collection includes a range of tops, dresses, shorts, pants, skirts, leggings and bodysuits, with accessories like embellished bags, scarves and shoes. The entire collection is super edgy and haute, with details like rivets, studs, gems and mesh. There are looks for day – pastel colored eyelet dresses – and night – gem corset bustiers. But the one item in particular I could not wait to get my hands on is the Crocodile Print Dress. Inspired by Christopher Kane’s Spring 2009 runway collection of baboon, ape and gorilla dresses, the croc dress follows suit with an open-mouthed print on the front with black trim at the neck and back. While Kane’s ape dresses retailed for over $2,000, the croc dress only goes for $125. I already picked up one for myself. Will you be copping one too?
