As much as I love color, sometimes my mood, or the weather (like this icky ‘Frankenstorm’ called ‘Nemo’ that’s on its way), calls for me wearing my default color: black. That color pretty much dominated my wardrobe in college. And New York City is a sea of black – coats, hats, handbags, boots, etc., especially in the winter. I love this time of the year when the leaves start to Fall and turn all sorts of brilliant tones! It’s truly one of the most beautiful, natural sights to see, especially in a rural area. Unfortunately you don’t get to see natural beauty like this in NYC – so I had to take these pics while home for Thanksgiving. I was heading back to New York from Washington, D.C. when Hurricane Sandy just started in that area. The previous day and earlier that morning it was sunny and warm. When I stopped on a local road in Maryland to take these pictures, the chill was just settling in and the rain just beginning. We managed to made it back to New York safe and sound, as the storm wouldn’t hit our state, New Jersey and other states until the following evening. What do you wear in the event of a tornado? There was a tornado watch in NYC last weekend, but I didn’t believe it at first. Every time I looked outside, there was nothing but sunshine. It was sunny all day, so color me surprised when I went shopping at the mall and came out 30 minutes later to dark skies and extreme gusts of wind! My topknot barely survived! Like usual, I love to get dressed around my accessories. I’m a handbag addict so my bags are usually the centerpiece of my outfits. On one of the perfect, sun-filled days we had at the end of the summer, I pulled out this Kersh printed peplum-style top. Admittedly, I was never really a fan of the style – peplum dresses always conjure up images of awful eighties style to me – particularly the clothes Jackée Harry wore while playing sassy “Sandra Clark” on 227.
