Nicole Richie to launch House of Harlow 1960 handbag collection for Spring 2011
April 2, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
Of all the celeb-designed lines, one we actually like is Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960. The jewelry line, which debuted first, was full of art-deco style, vintage, boho-chic pieces that were both pretty and reasonably priced. Recently, House of Harlow launched its footwear line – another hit with everything from chunky heels to comfy mocassins, alongside sunglasses. Next on the plate are House of Harlow handbags. It’s the logical next step for Richie’s successful brand. Reportedly, the House of Harlow 1960 handbag collection will consist of 40-50 handbag styles with a range of prices between $295 and $595, and will launch in spring 2011. There are no images yet, but Rick Cytrynbaum, co-founder of Majestic Mills (which produces House of Harlow 1960 accessories and Richie’s clothing line Winter Kate), told Women’s Wear Daily: “If you look at the clothing and you look at the footwear, you get an idea of what the bags are going to be!” I can tell you one thing - I will be waiting “with breath that is bated”!

Haute to shop: Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 footwear collection
March 3, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
While we refuse to ever wear a pair of Jessica Simpson’s shoes (we don’t care how darn cute they are - they’re still ’made’ by Jessica Simpson!) we’ll certainly step into some of Nicole Richie’s shoes.
Her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, had us swooning when it first debuted. Now, under the same label is a line of shoes set to debut this spring. If you love Richie’s boho-glam style, you’ll love this collection. The line has the same aesthetic as the jewelry line - an artsy, bohemian feel with geometric, tribal and art-deco detailing on all of the looks. Highlights from the line include chunky fish-scale peep-toe platforms, beaded moccasins, towering platform shoes with whipstitched, tribal detail on the heels, Navajo-inspired flats and stiletto sandals, and flat laser cutout booties. All the pieces would look great with any spring look.
What’s your take? Will you be buying House of Harlow 1960 footwear?

Nicole Richie to launch contemporary womenswear line
October 22, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Nicole Richie is set to launch her new contemporary women’s clothing line called Winter Kate, taking after her daughter Harlow’s two middle names.
The 37-piece line, which will hit stores in February, will be available in Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ron Herman, Intermix and Kitson.
Richie said: “It feels as though I’ve always been working on this collection, but officially I started putting it together in early 2009. I’ve wanted to design a clothing collection for a very long time.”
Her collection includes mostly tops, vests and bed jackets in colorful vintage-inspired silk, crepe and chiffon, alongside long slip dresses, asymmetrical short dresses, tunics and a kimono-sleeve maxidress. Richie drew inspiration from her wardrobe, as well as from her favorite animals, including peacocks and other birds.
“I probably wear the same two pairs of jeans every day as the background to a fabulous top,” she said. “Bed jackets are a staple of my wardrobe because they are a gorgeous way to give jeans and a white T-shirt a completely different look.”
Prices range from $35 (wholesale) for a camisole, to $110 for a long kimono dress, and up to $598 for leather pieces.
“Fashion should be accessible,” Richie continued. “That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960 and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate.”
We confess – we loved her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line - but does she have the design chops to churn out a full women’s collection? And will you be buying?

September 1, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
The super-sized scarf is a celebrity-fave and the perfect day-to-day accessory. With this year’s screwy seasons, a scarf can be worn from spring well into summer and right back into fall and winter. Celebrities don’t leave the house without a scarf - either worn loose and long or snugly wrappped and knotted around the neck. Their fave? Love Quotes scarves. Lindsay Lohan and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown (aka Mel B.) are fans, along with Hilary Duff, Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba, and Nicole Richie all wear Love Quotes.
Made of Italian linen, Love Quotes scarves are soft and light, and they come in every color of the rainbow. They look great and even make you feel good inside: 10% of the proceeds are donated to international children’s charities, and each Love Quotes scarf is accompanied by an inspirational quote to wear around your neck! Click here to buy Love Quotes scarves.
Also, September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month. Protect your neck! Thyroid cancer is one of the few cancers that has increased its incidence rate over the past several years. About 25,690 people will be diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the U.S. in 2005.
The Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc., is encouraging people to ask for a neck check the next time they visit their doctor. Signs to discuss with the physician include a lump or fullness in the neck, lymph node swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or voice changes.
When detected early, most thyroid cancers are treatable. Early detection is the key to improving outcomes. Patient and caregiver education is also important, because thyroid cancer requires lifelong monitoring as recurrences can occur decades after treatment.
Free brochures and support services are available from ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, an all-volunteer, non- profit organization of thyroid cancer survivors, family members, and health care professionals, dedicated to support, education, communication, and thyroid cancer research fundraising and research grants. For more information, call 1-877-588-7904, fax to 630-604-6078, send e-mail to thyca@thyca.org or visit www.thyca.org.

Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow Jewelry Fits the Bill for Spring
March 6, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
What’s coveted this Spring? Chunky jewelry. Especially statement-making necklaces a la Michelle Obama. But most of us aren’t attending presidential galas and throwing White House dinners everyday, so a too-chunky necklace can look out of place. But in the immortal words of Goldilocks, there’s a necklace that’s just right, and priced right.
The House of Harlow Plated Resin Necklace ($135) is equal parts statement-making and everyday chic. The necklace is made of 14K plated gold with black resin geometric plates. Designed by Nicole Richie (yes, daughter of Lionel, on-again off-again BFF of Paris), House of Harlow jewelry (named after her daughter) has a vintage 60’s vibe touched with Egyptian and Aztec influences.
Finally, we’ve found a celebrity designer who’s designs are worth wearing…

No One Else is MoMoFalana
January 28, 2009 by Seth Friedermann · 1 Comment
The single most effective thing in standing out from others is how you dress. It is entirely possible to attract the attention of dozens of people by simply walking into the room wearing the right thing. The woman who commits to having a style that truly expresses herself without fear will have a huge advantage in getting noticed. In a city as vast and varied as New York it’s very difficult to be unique…oh wait actually it’s not; just go to the corner of Avenue A and East 3rd Street.
MoMoFalana has occupied that address for 9 years. They have been carried by Henri Bendel’s & Barney’s and adorned the lovely shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker in an episode of Sex and the City. Most recently they have caught the eye of Nicole Richie and will be featured in ad campaign for her new perfume. The designs of MoMo Falana’s dynamic duo of Maureen Roberts and Mike Lublin are so stunning because that was priority one, from day one. “We didn’t want any attachment to an established aesthetic”, said Roberts.
Lublin and Roberts are incredibly accomplished dye craftspeople. Their saturated colors and vivid designs are carefully planned out and painstakingly executed. Gorgeous long silhouette dresses that fit and envelop a woman are another hallmark and goal of these dynamic designers. “I encourage women to stop dressing like everyone else, to dress like they have always imagined.” Another testament to their skill is that although each MoMoFalana design is one of a kind, they are the best in the business at matching colors so they can give you the same look that you coveted on your friend!

To wear a MoMoFalana dress is to be unforgettable, their designs create impact. They do all of their own alterations so a flattering fit is a guarantee. Unique, bold and beautiful - all in colors so rich, you could get drunk on them. If you are in NYC be sure to head to the corner of Avenue A and East 3rd Street, where MoMoFalana has cornered the market on stunning.

Haute or Not: Celebrity Headbands
September 20, 2008 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Celebrities are channeling their inner Wonder Woman with headbands tied around the forehead. Vanessa Simmons and Aubrey O’Day opted for thin styles, while Nicole Richie rocked a wider version, a silk and crystal braided Stacey Lapidus headband. Mary Kate Olsen drew stares with her Marc Jacobs runway-inspired ‘halo’ headband worn around her head. These new headbands are versatile. They can be worn with dresses, on the red carpet or dressed down with skinny jeans and a flowy, boho top. But are they a fad or here to stay? What’s your take on this trend: haute or not?
