Roberto Cavalli Spider-web suede sandals

February 5, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Roberto Cavalli Spider-web suede sandalsThe last thing on Earth that we want to come across is a spider. That said, we’ll take some spider-inspired accessories any day. The Roberto Cavalli Spider-web suede sandalsicon are just the shoes to usher in spring.

The light gray suede is a perfect neutral to pair with slacks, skirts or dresses for the day, and the shoe also doubles as a great pair of heels for night. Pair these Roberto Cavalli’s with jeans and a chic top for a sleek city look. And while cage booties were all the rage last year, the front spider-web-style pattern very well may dominate this year’s footwear. The pattern goes down the front, leading to an ‘almond’ toe. And the shoes aren’t complete without the 4.5″ heel and zip fastening at back.

Fendi Zucca zebra-print tote

Fendi Zucca zebra-print tote

As the owner of multiple Fendi bags throughout my handbag life, I have a love/hate relationship with the brand. I love them for their classic yet trendy designs and I also hate them for their many recent design missteps. Honestly, sometimes they take things way too far. But through the good and bad, my favorite Fendi bags have always been the ones that combine the classic zucca pattern with leather trim. With this duo, you can’t go worng! So the Fendi Zucca zebra-print toteicon gets a ‘love’ stamp of approval. Made of multicolored zucca canvas and patent leather, this tote bag has an edgy contrast black lamé zebra-print overlaid on top. It’s gorgeous and although zebra prints can usually easily go the way of tacky, Fendi gets this one right.

Look Like a Princess (Not Prince) in the Catherine Malandrino Ruffle Neck Top

Catherine Malandrino Ruffle neck top

Ruffled blouses can easily go the way of The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. While it may work for the Purple one, trust us when we say that look is not for the every day woman. So to avoid the Victorian-meets-disco/80’s pop era look, ruffles in balance and moderation are key.

The Catherine Malandrino Ruffle neck top provides the balance. A cement gray tone is the perfect backdrop forthree tiers of ruffles. A symmetric scoop front neckline sexily shows off one shoulder while the peek-a-boo crochet pattern just below the bust slims and tapers your waist.

Thankfully, this is one ruffled top that makes you look more like a Princess; less like Prince.

In the Navy: Miu Miu’s Studded Shoulder Bag

February 24, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

In the Navy: Miu Miu's Studded Shoulder BagWhat color is the new black? Depending on who you ask, the answers differ. But my pick is navy, thanks to this stylish, trendsetting tote.

The Miu Miu Studded shoulder bag is the pick of the season, combining haute trends (stud detail and convertible straps) with a truly classic design. Miu Miu uses simple shapes and solid leathers to create classic bags that stand out in spite of their simplicity. This bag works equally well as a corporate companion for day, as well as for the night owls.

The blue leather mixed with the vertical rows of gold studs gives this bag a nautical feel, yet strays far away from being too trendy. The softly pleated front and studded handles keep it looking mature.
