Burberry gets more beautiful - will launch color cosmetics line this July
April 23, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

We love to accessorize with Burberry – handbags, shoes, even fragrances so it’s about time they launched a Burberry makeup line too. WWD reports that the brand announced today that it will launch its first line of makeup this July. Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s creative director, said the line is a result of his frustrations with caky, off-color makeup at fashion shows. So, he did what any entrepreneur would do - he created his own makeup line.
The collection will consist of almost 100 beauty products, including a $24 lip pencil and a $59 foundation compact, and is licensed by Inter Parfums SA. The inspiration is said to be the iconic Burberry trenchcoat and Bailey commented: “Like the trenchcoat, it can be worn anywhere and at any time.” Additional products include liquid foundation, powder, eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss, lipstick, bronzer, and blush. The collection will be sold at Nordstrom.
We wonder if the product packaging will come in the lovely Burberry check print.

The Power Of Make-Up: Trish McEvoy Cosmetics Master Class
June 1, 2009 by Allison Croce · 2 Comments
Last month I reserved a spot at a Master Class taught by Trish McEvoy Cosmetics. The class was aptly called ‘The Power of Make-Up’ and it was a very appropriate title for such a wonderful class. It was a very small, informal group of women of all ages, led by Connie Lewis of Trish McEvoy Cosmetics. There was a lot of personal attention, with one make-up artist for every two women. I eagerly volunteered to be the demo, so I got to sit at the front of the room and Connie personally worked with me.
To start, we learned what our make-up levels were. For those new to Trish McEvoy, the make-up levels are 1, 2, or 3, and correspond to how in-depth you want to go with your make-up. I am proud to be a level 3! I love to use multiple products for each area of my face.
Next we started on eyes, and learned a great tip for summer. Use Trish McEvoy’s Eye Base Essentials, follow with a darker shadow in the crease, a little liner, and you’re set! It is a very neutral look, and really easy to do. For us level 3’s that love to try new products, there is this amazing gunmetal liquid liner that really takes your eyes up a notch. Follow with mascara and you have a day-into-night look that will let you stand out from the crowd.
Connie taught us to do our eyes first, and then concentrate on the rest of our face. While this is so foreign to me, it does make total sense. If you do your face first, you can have particles from shadow or mascara falling onto your face. Avoid having to do any touch-ups by switching up your make-up routine. Something so simple can really help you achieve the perfect look!
All of these tips and more are available to you at your local Trish McEvoy make-up counter. And very often there will be classes available at the different department stores. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, learned a lot, and had fun and walked away looking like a million bucks. If you get the chance to sign up, I know you’ll love it too. In the meantime, purchase Trish’s new Limited Edition ‘The Power of Makeup’ page (for your planner!) in petal pink at Neiman Marcus.
Let Your Face Go Nude with Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup
April 1, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
In case you haven’t heard, nude is haute for Spring. Not going naked, but nude apparel and accessories, of course! Nude shoes lengthen legs, a nude top is great under a suit and nude handbags work with any look. But really the best place to go nude is on your skin.
Nude makeup is what every woman wants – no one likes the pasty-faced caked-on makeup from the past. So that’s why we heart Dior’s Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup. This 100% natural mineral-infused powder nourishes and feeds your skin the minerals and vitamins it needs, all while providing light and sheer coverage. Filled with Dior’s exclusive, activated water, the powder actually improves the look of your skin over time giving you a flawless radiance and natural glow that’s the best thing next to perfectly nude skin.
Natural and flawless - isn’t that the best of both worlds?

Beauty, Organized! Trish McEvoy Makeup Planners
January 13, 2009 by Allison Croce · Leave a Comment
As a self-proclaimed makeup addict, I probably have more cosmetics than I need. I currently store it all in a large train case, which is wonderful for organization, but not the easiest to access every time I need a touch-up. I recently went looking for a more portable solution, and I came upon the Trish McEvoy Deluxe Planner Makeup System. It is exactly what I have been searching for, and I wanted to pass on the info to fellow make-up lovers.
With Trish McEvoy’s planner system, you buy the planner, which come in a few different sizes, depending on your needs, and then you create makeup ‘pages’. I chose the petite-sized planner, as it is not too small, but still able to fit nicely in my handbag. There are a variety of colors to choose from, and they all have a two-ring binder inside, as well as cute pockets for brushes and sundries. I felt so excited just purchasing the planner, as I now had portable makeup within my reach.
I went to Nordstrom to create my first makeup page. Trish has these really cool black cases, that have holes to accommodate being set into the binder in the planner. You then choose all your own colors and all the make-up is magnetic and sticks right into the page. It is totally refillable too! You can create a page of powder and bronzer, another page with eye shadows and definer, and yet another with lip colors. The combinations you can create on a page are endless, and it was a lot of fun to get started.
If you are interested in this makeup planner (which you should be!), you can check them out at Nordstrom. Seasonal, petite refillable makeup pages are available often, which affords you all the colors to make a particular look. The planner system is so ingenious, I keep wondering why I didn’t get one sooner!
Benefit Cosmetics Powderflage
November 19, 2008 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Watch the news and you’re bound to see someone involved in a cover-up. From politicians to celebrities to your average Jane - everyone’s got something to hide.
Benefit’s Powderflage was specially created for the woman who’s got a little something to hide - on her face, that is. Wrinkles, fines lines, and dark circles don’t stand a chance with this light and silky pink powder that diffuses into your skin to camouflage those minor facial imperfections. The “flager” brush conceals and covers-up in only two strokes! You can use the powder alone to lighten and brighten your face, or over foundation, concealer or other makeup for an extra dose of coverage.
So leave Benefit’s Powderflage to the facial cover ups. The other’s are up to you.

Makeup Counter Makeover: Bare Minerals / Bare Escentuals: Getting Started Kit
October 5, 2008 by Allison Croce · 1 Comment
Mineral makeup has been all the rage lately. I see ads and promotions for it all the time, so I decided to give it a try. I visited the Bare Minerals counter in Nordstrom and was warmly greeted. I let the consultant know that I have never used mineral makeup before and that I wanted to achieve a natural, everyday look.
My skin was prepped with Skin Rev-er Upper, and a little goes a long way. Just a few dots around the face and my skin was left well-balanced and ready for foundation.
Next was the exciting part, my first time trying the mineral makeup! The process to using Bare Minerals foundation is so simple; they even have a little mantra to help you remember. Swirl, Tap and Buff. It’s that easy! After buffing the mineral foundation in a circular pattern around my face, my skin had a nice, even, natural base with no heavy makeup feel. I was so impressed with how natural my skin felt. The coverage is very light and sheer. So perfect for everyday and so gentle you can even sleep in it. It is made 100% from crushed minerals.
After achieving a flawless complexion, the consultant used Bare Minerals Warmth to add depth and a nice glow. It is perfect for any skin tone and really adds a soft, natural look. Lastly, a quick sweep of Mineral Veil to set the look.
In addition to being a perfect everyday look that is kind to your skin and enhances your natural beauty, Bare Minerals is super affordable. Purchase the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Getting Started Kit.
