Wanna help me choose a wedding handbag?
June 9, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
As much as I write about bags, bags and more bags, you’d think the first thing I’d nail down for my wedding is a handbag! But lo and behold, the big day is a month away and the only thing I have yet to get is a bag! Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge evening bag kind of girl. I’d take a large shoulder bag, satchel or hobo over an evening bag any day! But I know a big bag would look absolutely ridiculous with my princess wedding gown so a small clutch or minaudiere will have to do for the day. And I do love the beauty of a good jeweled clutch. I’ve been browsing the selections of Judith Leiber bags at Avelle (formerly Bag Borrow or Steal), and have decided I’d like to ‘borrow’ one of them for my wedding. (Which will help me meet the ’something borrowed’ requirement too). I’ve got my eye on a few – the ‘Goddess’, the ‘Princess’, the ‘Mini Twilight’, the ‘Streamline’, the ‘Package’, and the python ‘Blaze’ and several others. Which one do you think I should pick? Which is your fave?
Donna Karan element silver-tone clutch
January 13, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 4 Comments
Whether or not the stud trend is still going strong or is O-V-E-R is yet to be determined, but there’s one stud bag that for us, will never get old. The Donna Karan Element silver-tone clutch is simply one giant pyramid stud in the form of a clutch, and we couldn’t love it more. Made of metal, the silver tone has an antiqued look, yet remains polished. It’s just the right amount of edge for a Rihanna type, but it’s still a classy piece to hang on the arms of even the most conservative of women. Just how Donna Karan would want it. The bag comes with a gold chain shoulder strap, square structured opening with top clasp and black lining.
Originally priced at $1,530 - now $765 at the Outnet. Click here to buy!

Haute Topic: Kings and Queens of Pop (and Bling)
June 29, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 3 Comments
This week we’re paying homage to Michael Jackson - the man, the mystery, the music legend, humanitarian and fashion innovator and icon. Jackson’s unique sound and dance moves may have put him on the map, and his philanthropic efforts kept him there but it was really his fashion sense that really made him stand out and made us take notice. Early on he set trends with prepster looks (like his yellow cardigan and bowtie during the Human Nature era); colorful zippered leather jackets (a la Thriller), then later, sparkly socks and that single jeweled glove. Blinged out military-style jackets covered in sequins and crystals became his uniform alongside cropped black pants. Jackson’s style may have been a little over the top, especially for day to day, but designers and other celebrities paid attention and began to emulate his style. This season’s ever popular Balmain bandleader blazers were insipred by the King of Pop, and celebrities from Beyonce to Rihanna to Kim Kardashian to Victoria Beckham were all spotted wearing Jackson’s signature look. Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Kate Walsh Doctors My Style
March 16, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
[Every week our style guru takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you, our poor college fashionista. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities are spending $5,000 on an ensemble, you don’t have to.
All you have to do is click on the goods and - boom - you can buy the entire ensemble. Yes, we know; there is a spot for her in heaven.]
I may be one of the few who truly loves Private Practice. Come on, people; don’t tell me you don’t dream of a doctor’s office filled with smokin’ docs! I also love Kate Walsh’s Bob. It’s chic and fresh, but still long and girly (unlike our pal Posh). And it looks so easy to deal with (unlike my unruly fro).
And now, not only am I jealous of Kate Walsh’s job and hair, but I’m jealous of her ‘fit. Cause it is just so cute. She looks totally fashion-forward for a day about town, which makes me believe that we can do it too!
But it’s a recession and we can’t afford to buy a $200 skirt! So leave it to me (your trusty budget fashionista) to break it down and find it for us all on the cheap:
Black Mini Skirt
This thing is the poster child for versatile. It’s cute to wear out with a hot pair of heels, or cute to wear cas(ual) with sandals or flats. And it spans all seasons: tights now, bare legs later!
If you want something a little more mini, this option works as well. Though I don’t reccomend dinner with grandma in this skirt.
V-neck
We all know how much I looove this shirt and that’s because it’s versatile: great for sweats yet sexy enough for this outfit. And this color - mmmm - it just adds some punch for spring
Leather Jacket
PETA may not like it, but everyone needs a leather jacket. And if you are all “I don’t eat or wear meat,” get a fake one. Or this totally cute retro number (right). Just get something.
Sunglasses
Now this is what I call Celebrity Chic on the CHEAP. Helloooo, Forever 21.
Black Tights
If you don’t already have them, HUE is definitely the best brand around. They are totally durable, cheap, and they sell em just about everywhere.
Necklace
I love this necklace. It’s equal parts fierce and whimsy, new and vintage, and it totally ups the intrigue on this outfit. If you’re not into this one, feel free to use a piece you’ve already got - any sort of statement pendant will do.
Purse
Cream, cute and also very cheap. Or, for something that won’t show all those stains from setting your bag down in a puddle of beer, try this grey option.
Haute Topic: Fashionable Neon Brights
March 3, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
The neon craze of the eighties returns in a not-so-tacky way. Back then, colorful brights were worn in excess - layers upon layers of fluorescent clothes were accessorized by totally tacky accessories - jelly sandals and jewelry, charm bracelets, vented sunglasses and biker shorts. Today’s neon is tastefully tried. Shop these haute pieces to add a fresh take on the trend revisited.

Alexander McQueen Neon Panel Clutch
February 10, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Some eighties trends should never come back in style - acid washed jeans, big hair, legwarmers, and fingerless gloves à la Madonna. Some are hit or miss, like Day-Glo and neon. But an eighties-redux design by McQueen is always a hit.
The Alexander McQueen Neon panel clutch is a neon dream. Black patent mixed with neon pink panels come together in a brilliant geometric shape. The design provides an interior that is larger than most clutches (13″ x 7″ x 3″) and looks futuristic despite it’s retro neon vibe.
