Cavage shoes: so beautiful and so Fine
April 13, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
In the ‘why didn’t anyone think of this before?’ news of the day, Brazillian shoe designer Cavage recently announced a partnership with a makeup artist we all know and love – Sam Fine. Called ‘Sam Fine by Cavage’, the shoe line will come in colors to match the hottest shades of makeup. Brilliant!
StyleList.com reports that the shoes will be handmade from fine South American leather and will be available in the following makeup-inspired colors: Dirty Blue, Metal Bronze, Metal Steel, Metal Old Silver and Soft Wine. These adorable, teardrop-cutout ballet flats are a bit pricey ($260), but the color palette is quite lovely and unique.
Sam Fine commented: “I love when fashion and beauty intersect…and my partnership with Cavage, a brand that brings luxury and glamour to women’s shoes, gives me the perfect opportunity to explore color in a new way.”
Will you be buying these ‘fine’ little flats?

Haute Topic: Fashionable Neon Brights
March 3, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
The neon craze of the eighties returns in a not-so-tacky way. Back then, colorful brights were worn in excess - layers upon layers of fluorescent clothes were accessorized by totally tacky accessories - jelly sandals and jewelry, charm bracelets, vented sunglasses and biker shorts. Today’s neon is tastefully tried. Shop these haute pieces to add a fresh take on the trend revisited.

Punk Prima Ballerina Chic: Capezio Studded Ballet Slippers
February 26, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
As girls, many of us dreamed of being a prima ballerina but as women, most of us would settle for two tix to Lincoln Center and a pair of Tory Burch ballet flats rather than tipping around a stage on our toes. But even though the season for ballet slippers is more o-vah than Chris Brown’s singing career, we’re loving this fresh and very literal take on the trend.
Capezio’s studded ballet slippers are less pink tulle, more punk leather. Adorned with silver studs and a drawstring at the toe, these soft leather and suede slippers are ruggedly adorable; perfect for traipsing around the house or the town in cutesy comfort and style. Wear them with the elastic strap or tuck it underneath the heel.
Channel your inner dancer without breaking any toes.

Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Miley Cyrus Has a Fashion Theory
February 22, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

[Every week College Candy's style guru Jill takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities are spending $5,000 on an ensemble, you don’t have to. All you have to do is click on the goods and - boom - you can buy the entire ensemble. Yes, we know; there is a spot for her in heaven.]
I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t like some of Miley Cyrus’ songs, or even guiltily thinking (to myself) last weekend that the preview for her movie looked cute and that maaaybe I would have to find a 9 year old girl to babysit so that I wouldn’t look like such a tool going to see it. (Hey, I know you all saw and loved the Lizzie McGuire Movie! No? Just Me? Okay then…)
But what I can proudly admit to you, dear readers, is my love affair with this Theory dress that our gal pal is wearing. It’s simple, it’s flattering and it’s a dress-up or down type of frock.
But, as we all know, Theory’s prices don’t exactly fit in our college chic budgets. (Let’s be real for a moment: any extra money we have is going to Vodka Tonics/late night eats.) Thank god you guys have me, then. I found the perfect pieces to build this look without having to worry about your DVR services being canceled (lest you miss an episode of Real Housewives).
So here is this week’s Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Miley Cyrus Has a Fashion Theory.
Here are two options that look pretty similar Miley’s! Pair them with leggings and flats for the day, or a hot pair of pumps for night.
Accessorize
Feel free to try some necklaces like Miley, or a belt like Kelly Osbourne (Yes, that is her in the picture. I didn’t believe it either!):
Clutch:
You need a bag to carry all your essentials, but choose something simple that won’t detract from the perfect fabulosity of the look.
Shoes:
Retro heels for a new twist on the black pump, or comfy flats for a night of dancing. Either would look great with the dress.
