My style: Fall brights (J. Crew blazer + Topshop peplum top + Vince ripped jeans)

I love this time of the year when the leaves start to Fall and turn all sorts of brilliant tones! It’s truly one of the most beautiful, natural sights to see, especially in a rural area. Unfortunately you don’t get to see natural beauty like this in NYC – so I had to take these pics while home for Thanksgiving. I loved the colors of the trees and leaves outdoors so I wanted to wear something bright too – like my new, hot pink J. Crew blazer, paired with Fall’s hottest hue – oxblood. What I’m Wearing: H&M faux fur scarf (similar here) | J. Crew Collection...  Read More..

My style: Tigers, cheetahs and leather (ASOS Tiger sweater + oxblood leather shorts)

I am one of those people who likes to wear things that don’t make sense for the season, like open-toed boots, sandals with tights and short-sleeved sweaters in the winter, and closed-toe boots and long-sleeved shirts with the arms rolled up, in the summer. So the concept of leather shorts is right up my alley. Shorts in the winter don’t make much sense but leather does, so for me it’s the perfect practical, fashionable marriage! While home for Thanksgiving, my brother and sister laughed at me when I announced I was going to rock my new leather shorts – they pictured all...  Read More..

My style: Stripes & checks (LOFT Corded Dobby Striped Trench + Jolt Reversible Houndstooth-Print Skinny Jeans)

A great coat always tops my list of Fall essentials. It’s the first thing anyone sees so it’s nice to pick one that stands out. I especially dig a good trench coat. A girl can never have too many of those. When I first spotted this belted, Corded Dobby Striped Trench in LOFT‘s Fall advertising campaign, I knew I had to have it and ordered it as soon as it was available! It’s been a great coat for the season, with its chic horizontal stripes, flattering fit, and lightweight fabric. And the cool details sold me too, like the double breasted button front, notched lapel and...  Read More..

My style: Tartan + Peplum (ASOS top + Seven7 jeans + Valentino Rockstud pumps)

I was heading back to New York from Washington, D.C. when Hurricane Sandy just started in that area. The previous day and earlier that morning it was sunny and warm. When I stopped on a local road in Maryland to take these pictures, the chill was just settling in and the rain just beginning. We managed to made it back to New York safe and sound, as the storm wouldn’t hit our state, New Jersey and other states until the following evening. As you know, many were hurt in some way by the hurricane. If you can, please donate your time, money, food, goods, blood, whatever you can, to help the...  Read More..

My style: Yellow & camo (Avaleigh dress, VS camo pants, Anna Dello Russo at H&M accessories)

I was quite surprised when I stepped into my local H&M a few weeks ago on the evening of the Anna Dello Russo at H&M launch. I expected everything to be snapped up; gone, in typical H&M collab fashion. But to my surprise, there still was a slew of accessories still neatly stocked behind a glass counter and a pleasant employee helping out. Unfortunately, the main item I wanted (the alligator sunglasses) was sold out. Fun/weird fact: alligators are my third favorite animal, right behind tigers and sharks. Yeah, I like to live dangerously. Anyway, I still got my alligator fix via this...  Read More..

My style: Skulls & boyfriends (e.vil tank + H&M jeans + Prada sandals)

I love my skinny jeans but sometimes a girl just needs a break. And boyfriend jeans are the next best thing. The best ones are slouchy and look lived in, but I found a great pair at H&M, which is a sort of skinny/boyfriend hybrid, aka my two faves in one. Paired with a cropped blazer, edgy tank and some heels I’ve been dying to wear for any reason, I was good to go! What I’m wearing: Tweed jacket: H&M (similar here and here) Top: e.vil Womens Burnout Oversized Skull Tank (similar here) Boyfriend jeans: H&M (also love these Madewell Boyfriend Jeans & Gap 1969 Sexy...  Read More..

My style: Three looks, one Fall #Score from TJ Maxx — plus share your fave fashion find to win one of two $100 TJ Maxx gift cards!

I think I was a “Maxxinista” even before TJ Maxx officially coined the term! I’ve always loved shopping there. In the past it was my place to find some great trendy and classic pieces, for a steal. Some of my favorite past TJ Maxx finds include Christian Dior mirrored sunglasses, a full length dark brown shearling coat, a Katherine Kwei knot clutch and a Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent silk top. I love to hunt for great fashion finds and TJ Maxx has always been my favorite place to do it. So when I received a $250 gift card from the store to shop for my fall fashion ‘Score’,...  Read More..

My style: A walk in the park (WGACA camo jacket + Equipment neon blouse + Alexander Wang bag + Valentino pumps)

Even though it’s most comfortable and typical for me to lounge around in jeans on the weekends, I do like the idea of getting at least slightly dressed up. Like putting on a dress or a skirt. Especially on Sundays. Last weekend, my hubby and I went for a drive and stopped by a local park to take some pictures of the beauty in nature, which we don’t get to see enough living in the concrete jungle that is New York City. I felt like ‘dressing up’ for no particular reason at all, but threw on my camo jacket (which I recently added some gold studs to, to edge it up a bit –...  Read More..

My style: Double denim; double stripes (UK Style by French Connection denim shirt + Hudson jeans + Bottega Veneta sandals)

Some celebrity or fashion/style trend expert decided it was a great idea to bring back the denim-on-denim trend, and I’m not complaining at all. It was a favorite of mine back in the 80′s, although with a MUCH tackier feel than today. I remember pairing a denim shirt with acid-washed jeans and embellished denim shoes! And you know I had a denim handbag to complete the look. Plus denim jewelry. And maybe there was a denim scrunchie too… Talk about over-’denim-ing’ it! Luckily my style has become a bit more ‘streamlined’ over the years. Gone are the tacky...  Read More..

My style: Sunset butterfly (Sugarlips Sunset Depth Blouse + Kirna Zabête for Target skirt + Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch)

Near the end of New York Fashion Week, I attended Case-Mate‘s “Right Case. Right Occasion” ShowCase. I first hit the red carpet to get a first look at/chat with the celebrity guests, like host Fergie, headliner Common, and featured designer Cesar Galindo. Later I went inside the Best Buy theater to mingle, with other notables including singer Daisha, DJ Mia Moretti, my childhood crush Taimak (from “The Last Dragon“), TV personality Quddus, and enjoy Cesar Galindo’s fashion presentation and watch Common’s live set. He killed it! The weather was just staring...  Read More..

My style: Snakes and studs at New York Fashion Week (Exclusive For Intermix blouse + Valentino Rockstud pumps + Celine Leather Luggage Tote)

You know your shoes are making a statement when random men on the street stop to compliment them. And I mean the type of men who look like they typically couldn’t care less about a pair of women’s shoes. I’ve wanted to buy these for some time now but thought they were a little too trendy and pricey for me. But eventually I came around and I have to say I plan on wearing them until the heels and the studs fall off, and probably even after that! Ok, hopefully that won’t happen since they ARE Valentino, but you get what I’m saying. They’re simply amazing to look at...  Read More..

My style: Tornado watch (White blazer & peplum top, neon yellow jeans, Vince Camuto sandals, Furla satchel)

What do you wear in the event of a tornado? There was a tornado watch in NYC last weekend, but I didn’t believe it at first. Every time I looked outside, there was nothing but sunshine. It was sunny all day, so color me surprised when I went shopping at the mall and came out 30 minutes later to dark skies and extreme gusts of wind! My topknot barely survived! A torrential downpour (and tornado!) followed, but I was able to get some pics just before it began. I found these jeans that I purchased in the spring but forgot I had, and I’d never even worn them! Do you ever do that? Buy something...  Read More..

My style: Friday night brights (Tart ‘Helen’ top + Gap jeans + LOFT Caged Wedges + Balenciaga Giant Midday tote)

Oh dear weekends, how do I love thee? Friday is probably my favorite day of the week. Friday nights signal the end of the work week, and the start of the weekend (YAY!) plus it’s usually my date night with my hubby and the perfect chance to unwind. Last Friday we decided to just take a stroll around NYC. Even after living here for so many years, there’s always a new place to be discovered so we love to walk around, take pictures and feel the energy of Manhattan. Since it was a casual date night, I kept my look casual in an off-the-shoulder top, jeans and wedges. What I’m wearing: Top:...  Read More..

My style & street style at the 8th annual AfroPunk Festival

What I’m wearing: Joie tank | Vince Camuto ‘Mirror Rainbow’ Maxi Skirt | Balenciaga bag | Dolce Vita wedges | Prada Baroque sunglasses This past weekend I hit up the 8th annual AfroPunk Festival in Brookyln. The two-day, FREE(!) event was held at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, and was some of the most fun I’ve had this summer. Merging the best in Afro/punk/pop/soul music, performers like Erykah Badu, Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae, Das Racist, Alice Smith and more, graced the stages, while skaters and BMX-ers did their thing on custom built ramps. There were food trucks...  Read More..

My style: Weekend comfort (Daniel Rainn blouse + Seven7 jeans + Marc by Marc Jacobs bag)

On the weekends, you’ll usually find me in a maxi dress or jeans. I live for comfort so putting on a pair of my favorite worn-in denim is typical. Also, I can be quite the girly-girl. I’ve always been a sucker for anything with floral print, butterflies or hearts, so I immediately picked up this top when I saw it in Nordstrom Rack. It’s lightweight, slouchy, and the heart print makes it girly so therefore, perfect for me. What I’m wearing: Heart-print blouse: Daniel Rainn via Nordstrom Rack Jeans: Seven7 Sandals: Zara (similar here and love these too) Sunglasses:...  Read More..

My style: All dressed up (H&M skater dress + DvF sandals)

You know when you spot that must-have dress and you have NO idea where you’re going to wear it but you’re still going to buy it anyway? That was exactly how I felt when I spotted this dress. I saw it in H&M and immediately fell in love with the Mary Katrantzou-style kaleidoscope/tropical print. That, plus the neoprene type of material, skater skirt and built-in bright belt, I was sold! The only problem was figuring out where to wear it. Last night I went to see Robin Thicke (sigh) in concert and decided it was the perfect time and place to rock the dress. Despite being an accessories...  Read More..
