More luxury for less – Mulberry to design handbags for Target
June 8, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Next on the low-priced luxury bus is Mulberry. The British brand known for bags like the Bayswater, Mabel, Mitzy and Alexa, just announced its designer collaboration with Target. In the works is a Mulberry-Target handbag line, in most Target stores and on Target.com starting October 10 through December 24.
Wonder what it will look like? We’re thinking some satchels, hobos, and maybe a clutch or two, plus a bit of faux snakeskin and of course, all in PVC. And we can’t wait to see the results.
Kara Ross wants to cover your eyes - launching limited-edition sunglasses exclusively for Sunglass Hut
April 29, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
It all began with super haute baubles then a venture into luxury handbags. Now Kara Ross is launching an eyewear line. Full of luxe details, the line, which launches this coming June, is a collaboration with the CFDA and Luxottica Group. Ross, along with two other CFDA members - Devi Kroell and Matt Murphy - each won an internal design contest, enabling them to create limited-edition shades to be exclusively sold at Sunglass Hut.
Ross’ sunglasses feature boxy large tortoiseshell frames with zebrawood-style figure-8 details on the arms. And a jewelry designer can’t help but throw in some jewel-like details, so there is also a bit of gold hardware throughout. The sunglasses will retail at $129.95.
These shades are pretty haute and the price is just right for Kara Ross fans.
Erin Fetherston joins Juicy Couture
April 21, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Has it really been ten years since Juicy Couture launched its iconic velour tracksuit? To mark the occasion (unofficially), the brand (now owned by Liz Claiborne) has hired Erin Fetherston as a consultant and guest designer. Fetherston is no stranger to guest-designing. She was one of the original ‘Go’ collection designers for Target. She was brought on to refresh and modernize the brand and we can’t wait to see her Juicy spin. It’s said that a large part of her job will be a “re-imagining of the Juicy tracksuit”. We’re fans of Fetherston’s signature flirty frocks so this collaboration should get interesting.
WWD reported that Fetherston will create a few limited-edition pieces for Juicy’s holiday 2010 collection, along with a full collection throughout 2011. She will continue to design for her own line as well.
Juicy Couture co-founders and co-designers, Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy, left the brand earlier this year.

If Target and H&M keep these designer collaborations coming, we’ll never have to shop full price again! Another de la Renta designer to watch: Moises de la Renta - MDLR for MANGO
March 26, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
In the de la Renta (fashion) house, the design apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Moises de la Renta, adopted son of legendary designer Oscar de la Renta, is too a design star. He recently launched a limited-edition line of shirts for Spanish retailer MANGO. Called MDLR for MANGO, de la Renta’s capsule collection consists of eight t-shirts inspired by traditional romantic themes, featuring an array of details including gemstones and jewels, tulle, graphic illustrations and patchwork effects.
MDLR for MANGO will be available at MANGO stores and at www.Mangoshop.com this April.

Badgley Mischka presents “American Glamour” collection for HSN
March 16, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 3 Comments
I recently had the chance to meet design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka of Badgley Mischka. The two behind the glamorous couture gowns we’ve seen dominating red carpets are set to roll out a full segment of their luxury fashions to all of America with their American Glamour collection, exclusive to HSN.
I had the chance to preview the Spring 2010 collection and it is undeniably glamorous. This is not the HSN of the past - Badgley Mischka’s collection for HSN is full of luxurious pieces, but without the luxury price tag. The American Glamour brand launched in 2009 and the collection runs six times a year, with highly accessible prices ranging from $39 to $499.
The line includes everything from haute baubles (jeweled bracelets, chunky cocktail rings, earrings and necklaces), superb leather handbags (satchels, clutches, totes and shoulder bags) covet-worthy shoes (ruffled wedges, dress heels, jeweled ballet flats), fringed scarves and comfortably chic apparel.
The standout pieces were the handbags (we’ve got our eyes on the chartreuse and black patent cage satchel and chain-strap shoulder bags), and the shoes. The red ruffled wedges closely resemble my Badgley Mischka Randee bridal shoes so I’ll be snapping up a pair of these wedges for my honeymoon.
Watch HSN this Wednesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 18 to snag a bit of American Glamour for yourself!
HSN - American Glamour Badgley Mischka On-air schedule (EST)

Jeffrey Sebelia named new head designer of Fluxus
March 15, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Project Runway’s favorite bad boy Jeffrey Sebelia was recently named head designer of Fluxus. His collection is everything you’d expect from his rock’n'roll aesthetic - edgy and everyday cool, tons of black and gray, but all-around haute. Sebelia for Fluxus is the synthesis of his three inspirations: the backstage of a ballet rehearsal, the dance floor of an 80’s disco night club, and the front row of a rock concert. You’ll see everything from a mix of knit garments from special wax-treated, leather-look pieces, to sheer modal and black stripe burnout garments. Sebelia’s fashions come in various cuts, shapes and silhouettes in easy-to-wear fabrics and priced as low as $60-$200. Check out images from his spring collection.
Fluxus fans include Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Lauren Conrad and Leighton Meester.
Jean Paul Gaultier rocks the house with ‘Designer Collaborations’ collection at Target
February 23, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
If you’ve had enough of the winter (we’re talking to you snowstorms), you’re probably already checking out spring fashions and deciding what to buy. Well so are we! And one of the must-buys on our list is a few pieces from the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection. The collection launches March 7, as part of Target’s ‘Designer Collaborations’ series. Gaultier is the third designer in the series, which features “well-established designers who draw inspiration from a collaborative partner, muse or creative element.”

Since we just couldn’t wait to see it in stores, so we stole a peek at the looks from Nitrolicious (via Refinery 29) and we likey! So, it’s not the most cohesive collection (Tim, Heidi, Nina and Michael might not approve) but still, the individual items are worth a trip to Target. We spy lovely floral print dresses and skirts, some covetable spring trench coats, bombers and moto jackets (especially loving the two-tone black jacket with red underside flaps!), tattoo print leggings, graphic tees with side ties, Breton-inspired striped tops, bathing suits, solid cardigans, gingham bustiers – you name it! As Tim Gunn would say, there’s a whole lotta look here but at least there’s something for everyone!

From JPG:
“My collection with Target pays homage to the wide range of personalities that make up the diverse styles of American women. From ingénue to rock ‘n roll, this collection celebrates women of all ages and a host of distinctive, iconic American styles.”
