And there were more sweet/funny/crazy moments, which you can read about here. But let’s talk about the fashion. Black and white seemed to be the theme du jour, with many stars donning black or white dresses or pantsuits. They looked nice, but black and white are such safe colors at an event like this.
Amber Rose and Nelly Furtado both donned short white...

Beyonce draped in an orange Lanvin dress, diamonds and emeralds on the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards’ white carpet showing off her baby bump – yes, she’s pregnant!
At MTV‘s annual Video Music Awards, we expect Lady Gaga’s outfits to upstage everyone and everything at the show. But not this year. R&B queen Beyonce stole the show walking down the white ‘carpet’ when she held her protruding baby bump letting us all in on a little secret – she and Jay-Z are pregnant! Let this mark the start of many months of speculating what she’ll be wearing to flatter her bump, what gender the baby will be, which designer duds we’ll expect to see on little Jay-Z or Beyonce Jr. (Dereon and Rocawear, naturally), and tons and tons...

Rihanna’s LOUD Tour Looks and On-Stage Style Rundown
We’ve followed every step of Rihanna’s style evolution, from her early ‘Girl Like Me‘ days of long hair and Hervé Léger dresses, to her ‘Good Girl Gone Bad‘ and ‘Rated R‘ days of her half-shaved head, blond mohawks and rocker-inspired looks, to the present, where she rocks ‘LOUD‘ red locks and colorful outfits. At her concert at The Meadowlands last week, we took in both her amazing talent and her even more incredible on-stage style. Here’s a roundup of what she wore, all selected and explained by her tour stylist Mel Ottenberg:

What she wore: Rihanna in Max Kibardin custom patent day-glo ankle boots on her ‘Loud’ Tour
Rihanna opened her ‘Loud’ tour in a very ‘loud’ fashion. Taking the stage in Toronto, she sang the album’s first single, “Only Girl (In the World)“, dressed in some colorful, eye-popping looks. Wearing little more than a metallic blue mini trench coat, she accessorized with her curly red hair, neon yellow hoop earrings and custom patent leather, day-glo, colorblock ankle boots by Max Kibardin. Rihanna’s tour stylist, Mel Ottenberg, previously reached out to the designer for the shoes to add a ‘punk rock vibe’. Rihanna‘s look was...

Black Swan: the movie that re-inspired ballet fashion
The 2010/2011 awards season is over but we can’t help but realize the impact Black Swan had on fashion this year. The Amy Westcott and Rodarte-designed tutus and performance outfits that Oscar winner Natalie Portman wore in the film have inspired a slew of ballerina-style ready-to-wear fashion. The trend goes beyond ballet flats – there’s tulle skirts, pink satin and tulle dresses that would give Portman’s Swan a run for her money, ballerina baubles, and even ballet-inspired beauty products. We’ve rounded up the best in Black Swan-worthy ballerina fashion and beauty products...

The 83rd annual Academy Awards (better known as the Oscars) airs tonight and Black Swan is one of the favorite films to win! We loved Natalie Portman‘s performance in the film, along with her beautiful dance costumes.
Reproductions of the four original Black Swan costume sketches, designed by Amy Westcott (and created by Rodarte), are on sale now, from this Sunday, February 27 through Tuesday, March 1. The sketches represent the visual presentation of the two main characters – Nina (Natalie Portman) and Lily (Mila Kunis), and were done in charcoal and oil on 9 X 12 painter’s...
