Nicole Richie to launch House of Harlow 1960 handbag collection for Spring 2011

April 2, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Nicole Richie to launch House of Harlow 1960 handbag collection for Spring 2011Of all the celeb-designed lines, one we actually like is Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960. The jewelry line, which debuted first, was full of art-deco style, vintage, boho-chic pieces that were both pretty and reasonably priced. Recently, House of Harlow launched its footwear line – another hit with everything from chunky heels to comfy mocassins, alongside sunglasses. Next on the plate are House of Harlow handbags. It’s the logical next step for Richie’s successful brand. Reportedly, the House of Harlow 1960 handbag collection will consist of 40-50 handbag styles with a range of prices between $295 and $595, and will launch in spring 2011. There are no images yet, but Rick Cytrynbaum, co-founder of Majestic Mills (which produces House of Harlow 1960 accessories and Richie’s clothing line Winter Kate), told Women’s Wear Daily: “If you look at the clothing and you look at the footwear, you get an idea of what the bags are going to be!” I can tell you one thing - I will be waiting “with breath that is bated”!

Haute to shop: Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 footwear collection

March 3, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Haute to shop: Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960 footwear collectionWhile we refuse to ever wear a pair of Jessica Simpson’s shoes (we don’t care how darn cute they are - they’re still ’made’ by Jessica Simpson!) we’ll certainly step into some of Nicole Richie’s shoes.

Her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, had us swooning when it first debuted. Now, under the same label is a line of shoes set to debut this spring. If you love Richie’s boho-glam style, you’ll love this collection. The line has the same aesthetic as the jewelry line - an artsy, bohemian feel with geometric, tribal and art-deco detailing on all of the looks. Highlights from the line include chunky fish-scale peep-toe platforms, beaded moccasins, towering platform shoes with whipstitched, tribal detail on the heels, Navajo-inspired flats and stiletto sandals, and flat laser cutout booties. All the pieces would look great with any spring look.

What’s your take? Will you be buying House of Harlow 1960 footwear?

Get ready to “Catch the Fever” with Beyoncé’s Heat fragrance

January 12, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

There’s no stopping Beyoncé. From music to acting, to fashion and accessories, there’s no end to extensions of the Beyoncé brand. And now she’s launching her first fragrance - Heat. In an exclusive interview with WWD, Beyoncé commented “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!”

The inspiration for the name and packaging came from the singer’s tours - fire from performances, red and gold are among her favorite colors; thus the antique-style bottle looks like it’s on fire. The top of the bottle is edged with a gold band and a cap with the letter ‘B’, and inscribed on the bottle are the words ‘Beyoncé’ and ‘Heat’. The fragrance has notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach; a heart of honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon and crème de musk, with giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber.

Beyoncé’s Heat, licensed by Coty, will be available in three sizes — 1 oz. eau de parfum for $39; 1.7 oz. eau de parfum for $49, and 3.4 oz. eau de parfum for $59. Also for sale will be a 6.8-oz. Gold Sparkling Body Lotion for $24. The complete collection will be available this February in the U.S. at approximately 2,000 department and specialty stores, (including Macy’s where Bey will make a personal appearance to Herald Square on Feb. 3.), as well as in Canada and Latin America.

Are you ready to “Catch the Fever“?

Celebrating the holiday’s with Jaclyn Smith and Kmart

December 23, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Jaclyn Smith and Kmart chef Art SmithIf someone told me I’d be spending a morning chatting with one of the original Charlie’s Angels and eating a meal cooked by Oprah’s own former personal chef, I’d say they were lying. But that’s exactly what happened several weeks ago. I was invited to attend Sears’ Home For The Holidays event hosted by celebrity Chef Art Smith and actress/designer Jaclyn Smith at Tribeca Skyline Studios. The morning started off with a cooking presentation by Art and Jaclyn - spicy chicken and shrimp gumbo for breakfast is better than you might think!

Then we had a chance to meet Jaclyn Smith and speak with her about her namesake brand. Her partnership with the store spans almost 25 years and she recently celebrated the launch of her home line in Kmart. She showed off her holiday display which looked incredibly more expensive than you would imagine. Everything from the furniture (tables and chairs) to the decorations (Christmas tree, ornaments, table runners ) looked incredibly rich and lush, and luxurious. All of this at Kmart? Who knew? Admittedly, I haven’t shopped at a Kmart store in years, but after seeing this beautiful home collection, it made me want to hop on over to Kmart ASAP and begin decorating my apartment.

The beautiful designs in the Jaclyn Smith brand are thanks to chief home design officer, Theresa A. Strickland, and Smith herself. Whether you love the home goods or the fashions (Jaclyn wore a luuxurious low-priced cashmere sweater from her own collection!), check out the Jaclyn Smith collection at Kmart for all your holiday needs!

SJP NYC Sarah Jessica Parker perfume fragrance SJP NYC Sarah Jessica Parker perfume fragrance

According to Women’s Wear Daily, Sarah Jessica Parker has a new fragrance in the works called SJP NYC. SJP was inspired by her own character, Carrie Bradshaw. She said she drew upon “people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street”, what feelings that evokes for her and for them, a love for New York City and, fashion of course.

The fruity floral perfume will be released in February 2010 in Macy’s, and will enter an additional 1,500 department and specialty stores once the sex and the City movie sequel hits theaters in May 2010. Notes include mandarin, white osmanthus, strawberry, gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa, rose, sandalwood, vanilla absolute, rum flavor and creamy musks and was developed by Parker in collaboration with perfumer Honorine Blanc.

The collection consists of three sizes of the eau de toilette — 15 ml. for $25, 30 ml. for $35 and 60 ml. for $49.

Covet and Lovely have already made a place on to my dresser. Not feeling the bottle, but I hope to add SJP NYC to my perfume collection too.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen launch OlsenboyeJust last week, the Olsen twins became members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for their luxury brand, The Row and their contemporary line, Elizabeth & James.

Now, According to Women’s Wear Daily, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are launching Olsenboye, a junior brand concept that they presented to, and will be exclusive to J.C. Penney. Olsenboye, the Olsens’ ancestral name, will hit 600 Penney stores in February and the pieces retail between $20 and $50. The collection will include denim, pants, tops, dresses, skirts, shorts, jackets, handbags and shoes.

Nicole Richie to launch contemporary womenswear line

October 22, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Winter Kate by Nicole RichieAccording to Women’s Wear Daily, Nicole Richie is set to launch her new contemporary women’s clothing line called Winter Kate, taking after her daughter Harlow’s two middle names.

The 37-piece line, which will hit stores in February, will be available in Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ron Herman, Intermix and Kitson.

Richie said: “It feels as though I’ve always been working on this collection, but officially I started putting it together in early 2009. I’ve wanted to design a clothing collection for a very long time.”

Her collection includes mostly tops, vests and bed jackets in colorful vintage-inspired silk, crepe and chiffon, alongside long slip dresses, asymmetrical short dresses, tunics and a kimono-sleeve maxidress. Richie drew inspiration from her wardrobe, as well as from her favorite animals, including peacocks and other birds.

“I probably wear the same two pairs of jeans every day as the background to a fabulous top,” she said. “Bed jackets are a staple of my wardrobe because they are a gorgeous way to give jeans and a white T-shirt a completely different look.”

Prices range from $35 (wholesale) for a camisole, to $110 for a long kimono dress, and up to $598 for leather pieces.

“Fashion should be accessible,” Richie continued. “That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960 and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate.”

We confess – we loved her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line - but does she have the design chops to churn out a full women’s collection? And will you be buying?
