Haute to shop: Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 footwear collection

March 3, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Haute to shop: Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960 footwear collectionWhile we refuse to ever wear a pair of Jessica Simpson’s shoes (we don’t care how darn cute they are - they’re still ’made’ by Jessica Simpson!) we’ll certainly step into some of Nicole Richie’s shoes.

Her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, had us swooning when it first debuted. Now, under the same label is a line of shoes set to debut this spring. If you love Richie’s boho-glam style, you’ll love this collection. The line has the same aesthetic as the jewelry line - an artsy, bohemian feel with geometric, tribal and art-deco detailing on all of the looks. Highlights from the line include chunky fish-scale peep-toe platforms, beaded moccasins, towering platform shoes with whipstitched, tribal detail on the heels, Navajo-inspired flats and stiletto sandals, and flat laser cutout booties. All the pieces would look great with any spring look.

What’s your take? Will you be buying House of Harlow 1960 footwear?

Buy at shopbop.com and Singer 22.

The Future of Fashion hosted by Robert Verdi’s Luxe Laboratory: the ultimate New York Fashion Week retreat

February 25, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Robert VerdiBelieve it or not, fashion week can be uber-stressful so any and all opportunities to take relaxing breaks are very much-welcomed. So I was thrilled to be invited to the exclusive New York Fashion Week retreat: The Future of Fashion hosted by Robert Verdi’s Luxe Laboratory. Verdi organizes these fashion Week retreats with a specially curated group of partner brands in fashion, beauty and lifestylen to offer ‘exclusive services, little indulgences and innovative ideas that are shaping the future of fashion & the way we live’.
The Future of Fashion hosted by Robert Verdi's Luxe Laboratory: the ultimate New York Fashion Week retreat
The Luxe Laboratory is set up in an intimate, studio-style setting, and if I could live in the cozy space, I absolutely would! I visited the lounge on Valentine’s Day, and upon entering, was greeted with a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere of food, drink, fashion, beauty, artwork (from Jen Bekman gallery), and fellow fashion bloggers milling about. I was served yummy Absolut Berri Açai champagne cocktails (sadly I just missed the healthy brunch from BluePrint Cleanse!) and gnoshed on my favorite kettle corn popcorn from Popcorn Indiana. On one end of the Luxe Laboratory was a Rock & Republic denim bar so we could take a peek at the hottest new styles from the brand, alongside custom fittings from Maidenform and ShāToBu™ shapewear, Carrera sunglasses and a furnishings by Modern Dose.

On the other side of the main room was a spa-like lounge area where we could get all dolled up! Ginger + Liz, two ladies who started their own line of fab nail colors, were there providing manicures using their haute collection. My fave was ‘Swagger’. Makeup was provided by Neil for Jouer Cosmetics. He did such a fab job on my face that I sorta hired him to duplicate the look for my upcoming wedding! A professional hair stylist from PHYTO was also there to provide blow-outs. Yes, I felt spoiled for the day!

The Robert Verdi Luxe Laboratory event was amazing! It was such a great space to relax, mingle with other fashion bloggers and editors and get up close and personal with the brands I already write about.

Thanks Robert Verdi! Hope to pay another visit to the Luxe Laboratory very soon!

RACHEL Rachel Roy Estelle pop-up shop FacebookAt last year’s Fashion’s Night Out, I visited the RACHEL Rachel Roy pop-up store and it was amazing. Narciso Rodriguez for eBay

February 1, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Narciso Rodriguez for eBayThough we seem to be moving out of the great recession, shoppers are still cautious about spending money. So it’s great that designers are recognizing this and continuing to create lower-priced lines that we can all afford.

Narciso Rodriguez just announced his collaboration with eBay. You may have heard of him – he only dressed First Lady Michelle Obama on election night. His eBay line launches on February 15, 2010 and represents the designer’s first-ever original capsule collection. The collection will consist of eight-piece limited-edition pieces of streamlined silhouettes, color block style and in a red, black and white color palette. In other words: signature Narciso. Wonder if Mrs. Obama will be shopping. We’ll be watching.

The collection will range from $65 - $350, and will be available in sizes 0 to 14. Shop exclusively through the Narciso Rodriguez eBay store.

Get ready to “Catch the Fever” with Beyoncé’s Heat fragrance

January 12, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

There’s no stopping Beyoncé. From music to acting, to fashion and accessories, there’s no end to extensions of the Beyoncé brand. And now she’s launching her first fragrance - Heat. In an exclusive interview with WWD, Beyoncé commented “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!”

The inspiration for the name and packaging came from the singer’s tours - fire from performances, red and gold are among her favorite colors; thus the antique-style bottle looks like it’s on fire. The top of the bottle is edged with a gold band and a cap with the letter ‘B’, and inscribed on the bottle are the words ‘Beyoncé’ and ‘Heat’. The fragrance has notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach; a heart of honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon and crème de musk, with giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber.

Beyoncé’s Heat, licensed by Coty, will be available in three sizes — 1 oz. eau de parfum for $39; 1.7 oz. eau de parfum for $49, and 3.4 oz. eau de parfum for $59. Also for sale will be a 6.8-oz. Gold Sparkling Body Lotion for $24. The complete collection will be available this February in the U.S. at approximately 2,000 department and specialty stores, (including Macy’s where Bey will make a personal appearance to Herald Square on Feb. 3.), as well as in Canada and Latin America.

Are you ready to “Catch the Fever“?

Burberry collabs with Colette to create exclusive new studded trenchBored with the basic Burberry trench? Good news – there’s a brand new, edged up trench in the works. Burberry designed this exclusive trench coat for concept store, Colette and while the tan trench is classic Burberry, the new design is much more modern. Read: punk couture. Ruched and pleated details at the shoulders and front. Gold spiky studs covering the signature tartan print on the underside of the collar. Very Naomi Campbell meets Rihanna. Without the phone throwing and the umbrella, of course.

On sale at Colette, from February 22 – 27. Coats will be priced from 1995 to 2495 euros.

Who rocked it hotter: Rihanna vs. Ciara in the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging Jean

January 11, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Who rocked it hotter: Rihanna vs. Ciara in the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging JeanThe jean legging (or ‘jegging’) trend has spilled over from 2009 into 2010. Whether you like them or not, jeggings aren’t going anywhere. They’re the perfect alternative to the jean - obviously more comfortable and they also come in a variety of washes and styles, like jeans. Rihanna and Ciara were both seen wearing the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging jeans ($159).

Ciara was first seen in her Charley 5.0 jeggings last summer on the red carpet of the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival’s premiere of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” held in Los Angeles, California. She paired them with a sheer white tank over a pink bra, a layered chain necklace and black Yves Saint Laurent Trib Two Platform Pumpsicon.

Rihanna wore the cotton and polyurethane leggings recently, arriving at LAX Airport with her BFF Melissa and boyfriend Matt Kemp. She paired the jeans with a white knit top, hot pink Givenchy ankle sandalsicon and her Stella McCartney Technical taffeta toteicon.

Did you notice both ladies accessorized with pink lips and nails? Guess that’s what happens when you share the same stylist! But who do you think rocked the Charley 5.0 Skinny Mini Tie Dye Legging jeans hotter?

Celebrating the holiday’s with Jaclyn Smith and Kmart

December 23, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

Jaclyn Smith and Kmart chef Art SmithIf someone told me I’d be spending a morning chatting with one of the original Charlie’s Angels and eating a meal cooked by Oprah’s own former personal chef, I’d say they were lying. But that’s exactly what happened several weeks ago. I was invited to attend Sears’ Home For The Holidays event hosted by celebrity Chef Art Smith and actress/designer Jaclyn Smith at Tribeca Skyline Studios. The morning started off with a cooking presentation by Art and Jaclyn - spicy chicken and shrimp gumbo for breakfast is better than you might think!

Then we had a chance to meet Jaclyn Smith and speak with her about her namesake brand. Her partnership with the store spans almost 25 years and she recently celebrated the launch of her home line in Kmart. She showed off her holiday display which looked incredibly more expensive than you would imagine. Everything from the furniture (tables and chairs) to the decorations (Christmas tree, ornaments, table runners ) looked incredibly rich and lush, and luxurious. All of this at Kmart? Who knew? Admittedly, I haven’t shopped at a Kmart store in years, but after seeing this beautiful home collection, it made me want to hop on over to Kmart ASAP and begin decorating my apartment.

The beautiful designs in the Jaclyn Smith brand are thanks to chief home design officer, Theresa A. Strickland, and Smith herself. Whether you love the home goods or the fashions (Jaclyn wore a luuxurious low-priced cashmere sweater from her own collection!), check out the Jaclyn Smith collection at Kmart for all your holiday needs!
