I can’t remember exactly when I first started reading Awesomely Luvvie but I think it was her Scandal recaps that initially drew me in to her site. And once I was there, I instantly became addicted to her humorous takes on, well, pretty much everything! I bookmarked her site, followed her social media accounts and immediately shared her funny blog posts with everyone I knew.

After years of keeping us all in virtual stitches via her website, Luvvie’s now sharing her humor in print, with her New York Times bestselling book, I’m Judging You The Do-Better Manual. It’s described as “a series of humorous essays that dissects our cultural obsessions and calls out bad behavior in our increasingly digitally, connected lives.”

I have been reading it over the past week, at every chance I get. It is a book that you definitely will not want to put down! Although at one point I had to put it down temporarily because I was reading it on the train and laughing so hard I started crying laughing. I was starting to look like a crazy person! Thanks, Luvvie.

Anyway, if you think Luvvie is funny online, just wait until you read her book! My review, in summary: it’s the perfect mix of hilarity and common sense guidance. Think of it as comical, slightly judgmental self-help. She shares her take on everything, from bad relationships to poor online etiquette; everyone’s current quest for immediate fame, to race relations, and crazy cosmetic procedures. No topic is off limits.

No person is off limits, either. She calls us all out for our bad behavior and bad decisions. In the book, she judges her friends and family, celebrities, society, me and you, herself – everybody. None of us are exempt. But mixed in with her judgment are great tips for life, like:

1. NEVER use Comic Sans font if you’re an adult.
2. Don’t call yourself a ‘visionary’.
3. Endorphins tell us lies, sometimes.
4. “Real Gs move in silence like gnus.”
5. Please wash your undergarments, regularly.
