I’m so excited for my sister’s wedding next month! Since I’m her matron of honor, that means I’ll be her right hand girl at all of the celebrations leading up to the wedding (the showers/parties), and of course, on the big day itself. And all of these events means lots of photos, which means I’ve got to look my best and that means I’d better whip my skin into shape – and fast!!
Even though I wear makeup on a regular basis, great skin is always the best foundation. And admittedly, I haven’t been too good to my skin lately. So the last time I visited my dermatologist, she recommended CeraVe skincare products. I’ve recently started using CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, and CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50. I found all of these products at Walmart, in the ‘Dermatologist Recommended’ section of the skincare aisle.
Our skin naturally contains ceramides, and over time, they get depleted, leading to dry and irritated skin. CeraVe helps replenish the vital ceramides healthy skin needs. So I’ve been using all of these products on a daily basis to help get my skin back in great shape. Also, I love that all of the products are non-irritating and fragrance-free, and most are also non-comedogenic! You need healthy products to get healthy skin, right?! I’ve developed my own CeraVe skincare routine that I follow every day to improve my skin’s surface and tone.
Check out my five step tutorial:
Step 1
In the morning, I start off by washing my face with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. This creamy cleanser quickly lathers up on my face and has ceramides and hyaluronic acid which moisturize, soften, and help repair my skin. It tingles a bit so I also love it because it wakes me up in the morning!
Step 2
After rinsing off the Hydrating Cleanser, I smooth CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion all over my face. It’s a lightweight moisturizer that moisturizes (of course), and also provides broad spectrum sun protection. It’s light enough that I can also add a layer of sunscreen (which I do – and will get to that in a few steps). And of course, it acts as a great base for my makeup application.
Step 3
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is also great for the face but since I use the AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion on my face, I save the Moisturizing Cream for my neck and décolletage. It also moisturizes and uses ceramides to help restore the protective skin barrier.
Step 4
Next, I slather on a light layer of CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 on both my face and neck. I pay particular attention to adding sunscreen to the dark spots on my face (hyperpigmentation from acne scars), as exposure to the sun can darken them. Then I add my makeup and go!
Step 5
At the end of the day, I wash my face once again – this time using my CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. This cleanser starts off as a silky, clear gel and quickly lathers up once you add water. It removes all my makeup, plus any dirt and oil from the day, while replenishing my skin with ceramides.
