A few weeks ago I showed you how to create the perfect Valentine’s Day date night look with Maybelline makeup. Well, I couldn’t get enough so I’ve gone ahead and created a second date night look with even more Maybelline cosmetics! I picked up some new goodies from Walmart, on a Maybelline tower at the end of the beauty aisles. I snagged a few Maybelline Color Sensational LipColors (in a red shade and two pink shades, perfect for Valentine’s Day), The Blushed Nudes Palette, Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara, and Eye Studio® Lasting Drama™ Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black.
For my second Valentine’s Day beauty look, I kept my eyes simple and played around more with the lip colors. But I’ll get back to them in a moment. Let’s start with my eye look. I debated between buying The Rock Nudes Palette or The Blushed Nudes Palette but I went with the latter because the shades looked softer and more Valentine’s Day-like to me. The palette features a slew of pinks, peaches, rose golds, taupes and brown hues, which all work well with my skin tone. (Although, The Rock Nudes Palette has a lot of deep, edgy colors that are perfect for evening – and it looks like a lot of fun so I’ll probably review it at a later date!) Anyway, The Blushed Nudes Palette is great because it has step-by-step instructions on the bottom so if you’re not a makeup guru, you can still achieve the perfect eye look!
Here’s a three step breakdown of how I achieved this eye look:
Step 1: I used the four colors on the far right of the palette: light pink, rose gold, taupe and brown. The palette comes with two eyeshadow applicators which I felt were sufficient for applying the shadow to my lids. I started
Step 2: I tend to keep my eye shadow looks simple but I can’t resist going the extra mile when it comes to eyeliner. I mean, who can resist a cat eye?! I find that the best way to keep the sat eye sharp is to use a bit of tape when applying. But this Eye Studio® Lasting Drama™ Gel Eyeliner comes with a brush that makes it pretty easy to apply in a straight line,
Step 3: I brushed on one coat of Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara to ‘lengthen’ my lashes.
The result? A strong yet subtle eye look!
Next, I moved on to my lips, and got to playing around with the following three Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Colors I picked up:
015 – Born With It
105 – Pink Wink
625 – Are You Red-dy
Born With It
Born With It is a creamy, light pink shade. It shade goes on super sheer so I needed to apply several coats and got the exact shade of pink that I wanted. I love that it has a touch of sparkle so it glimmers slightly on the skin. And I also used it as a base for creating an ombré lip! (See below)
Pink Wink
Pink Wink is a beautiful, light magenta hue. It’s a mix of pink and light purple shades, and like Born With It, there’s a hint of sparkle. You can apply one coat for a lighter color, or several coats to achieve a richer, deeper pink shade.
Are You Red-dy
You can always find me rocking a red lip and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse! (As if I needed one). Are You Red-dy goes on strong, immediately, with just a quick swipe. Of course, several coats gives you the perfect, creamy red pout. This shade is not a strong ruby red – it’s more of a reddish pink which made it perfect to pair with Born With It to create my final lip look.
The Ombré Lip
As I said, I mixed Born With It and Are You Red-dy to create this ombré look. It’s a little subtle, so hard to see clearly in this pic, but I started with several coats of the pink lipstick, then applied touches of the red all along my inner lip. After a few coats, I pursed my lips together to blend, and added more of the red as needed.
What do you think of my Valentine’s Day eye and lip looks? Which products will you be trying out for V-Day?
