I love doing a dark smokey eye when I want a dramatic look for a party. I’ve created a pretty holiday look using Urban Decay shadows to create a pretty smokey eye look with a hint of gold for the season. Lips can be neutral, but I prefer a glossy red lip to really show that holiday spirit.
After applying moisturizer and eye cream, I used Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer Potion all over my face followed by foundation, concealer, and blush in my favorite shades. Once I had my skin looking flawless, I was ready to create a beautiful gold-infused smokey eye.
If you find your eyelids tend to get oily, begin by priming them with Urban Decay Eye shadow Primer Potion. I used makeup from the Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Theodora Palette to create this look. If you don’t have Urban Decay shadows, you can still create this look with similar shades that you already own. You will need a shimmery ivory shade, and three brown shades-a camel and two deeper chocolate/maroon shadows. For the finishing touch, you’ll need a pretty gold shadow.
Starting with eye shadow in shade Broken, apply all over your lid up to your brow bone, going heavier on the inner corner of your eyelid. I even like to extend this light color just under the lower lash line as well. It really helps to brighten up your eyes. Next, apply shade Beware from the center of your eyelid outward. Using shade Bewitch, pat this color in outer corner of your eyelids. Using shade West, apply in your crease. Finally, use the gold in shadow duo Spell and blend it just in front of the center of your eyelid for a great sparkle. Line the upper lash line with a matte black liner and add a few coats of your favorite mascara.
You can complete the look by adding either a neutral lipstick or gloss, or go with a holiday red! I love Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Theodora.
I hope you enjoy this holiday look. I will be back with my haute holiday hair tips as well. Happy holidays!
