Parisian fashion designer (and unofficial queen of the wedge sneaker) Isabel Marant is bringing her French style to the masses!
A spokeswoman for H&M announced that Isabel Marant will design a collection for women, men and children/teens as part of her new role as guest designer for Hennes & Mauritz.
The women’s and men’s line will include approximately 20 clothing items and five accessory items, and the boys and girls line (for ages 10 to 18) will include approximately 30 pieces of clothing and 10 accessories. The collection is to debut on Nov. 14 in more than 250 H&M locations, and prices are yet to be determined.
Based on the popularity of Marant’s sneaker wedges and ‘Dicker’ suede ankle boots, we’re expecting to see some inspired items in her line for H&M.
She said of the collaboration: “I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour. I aim at creating something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one’s own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality.”
Margareta van den Bosch, creative director at H&M commented: “She has a fantastic eye for ethnic detail and the rare ability to create something that people really want to wear.“
Isabel Marant joins the ranks of fellow fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Stella McCartney, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, Donatella Versace, Marni and Maison Martin Margiela who all have collaborated with H&M as guest designers.
