It’s the return of the mod this season, or at least it is at the house of Louis Vuitton. Last season, Marc Jacobs presented his LV Spring/Summer 2013 collection with models descending from escalators onto the runway, draped in the finest checkerboard prints. The motif was seen on pants, shoes, bra tops and dresses in color combos like black and white, beige and white, grey and cream, and blush and cream.
As we know, everything that looks good on the runway doesn’t necessarily work in real life but several actresses decided to give Jacobs’ Louis Vuitton checkerboard prints a shot. Kristen Stewart got in on the action late last year when she was the first star to don the checkerboard print, haute off the runway. She rocked the Louis Vuitton romper in Tokyo while at the Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 2 premiere.
Kerry Washington first wore the checkered dress, in a blush pink and cream hue, at her “Django Unchained” Berlin photocall. She paired it wiith a matching headband (also Louis Vuitton S/S ’13), and black evening bag and white Christian Louboutin Pigalle Plato pumps. Not many could pull off this look but it really worked well for Kerry.
This past Sunday, Jessica Alba wore the black and white sequined version of the dress while attending the 14th Annual Warner Bros. and InStyle Golden Globe Awards after party at the Oasis Courtyard at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She rocked it with a black clutch and black Casadei Blade stiletto heel pumps. With her hair in a loose up do and a bright red lip, the styling made Jessica look lovely.
So, when it comes to the Louis Vuitton checkered print shift dress, who rocked it hotter – Kerry Washington or Jessica Alba?
