Attention ‘Gossip Girl‘ fans! Dressing like Serena and Blair is about to get easier – and more affordable. According to WWD, contemporary brand Romeo & Juliet Couture (on sale now at HauteLook) partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Television Group to produce ‘Gossip Girl’ the Collection. The line premiered at tradeshow Coterie yesterday and will be available for purchase on Sept. 26, coinciding with the ‘Gossip Girl‘ Season 5 premiere. Kitson, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are the retailers selling the $200 and under collection.
The collection will include Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf-style tops and bottoms, sweaters, outerwear and dresses fashioned from materials like chiffon and leather, with lots of prints and pleating. Think sexy dresses à la Serena and preppy separates à la Blair. Handbags and accessories will launch in Spring 2012. Check out some of the looks from the collection below:
David Shamouelian, chief executive officer of Romeo & Juliet Couture said: “This is Romeo & Juliet’s first entertainment venture, and ‘Gossip Girl‘ was a natural choice for a partner, as the show is synonymous with fashion.”
Maryellen Zarakas, senior vice president of worldwide marketing and TV and studio licensing for WBCP commented: “‘Gossip Girl‘ as the inspiration for a fashion line makes for the perfect design muse because there’s an endless supply of inspiration. It wasn’t a decision about whether or not to pursue this collection, it was about finding the right partner.”
We’re excited about this collection but our only other thought is ‘why didn’t anyone do this for our former favorite TV series for fashion inspiration – ‘Sex and the City‘?’
