Get a Facelift, Breast Lift and Toned Abs for Under $200!

April 29, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

It Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Palette Abs in a Box and My Beautiful Breasts KitsIt might sound like false advertising because technically, you won’t have to go under the knife. But you can still sculpt your face and body with It Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Palette, Abs In A Box and My Beautiful Breasts Kit.

The Sculpted Face Palette comes in 4 shades to match every skin tone, 2 highlighting shades chock full of Vitamin E and jojoba oil to moisturize your skin. There’s also a full color reference chart that guides you on how to contour the features of your face, to maximize or minimize certain features. The result? It gives you the appearance of a slimmer face, straighter nose, contoured cheekbones and even reduces that double chin.

Abs in a Box and My Beautiful Breasts are two-part body sculpting kits that come with advanced firming cream along with 100% waterproof and sweat proof highlighting and contouring shades. The beautiful breasts kit creates the look of perfect breasts, making your breasts and decollete look firmer and lifted, while the abs kit slims your waist, instantly, and apparently makes you look like you lost 10-15 pounds! And doesn’t give you that greay, melty spray-on abs look, a la Mariah Carey.

Get your Rocks Off with Gemma Redux Jewelry

Chrysoprase. Phrenite. Pyrite. Amazonite. Are these materials for chemistry lab? Nope – just some of the many precious gems in the gorgeous Gemma Redux jewelry collection.

Designed by Rachel Dooley, a former mechanical engineer turned lawyer turned jewelry designer, Gemma Redux jewelry has that edgy, organic look that women try to achieve by layering necklaces and mixing pieces. No need for that here. Gemma Redux necklaces, bracelets and earrings weave tangled strands of wispy stainless steel, gunmetal, gold, copper and silver chains and large links, with raw, rough-cut stone nuggets, offering up a very vintage vibe. Dooley uses colorful shots of candy-like gems (think orange jade, red coral, lawn green quartz and blue agate) in jawbreaker and rock-candy shapes which lend a sense of playfulness to the collection.

Get your rocks off here.

Kiki de Montparnasse Fringe Benefits Necklace

Fringe Benefits Necklace by Kiki De Montparnasse

This year it’s all about the statement-making necklace and no piece makes a greater statement than the Fringe Benefits Necklace by Kiki De Montparnasse. The maker of ultra-sexy lingerie now dabbles in jewelry design and the result is this provocative neckpiece. A sterling silver neck collar with a hook-and-eye clasp is embellished with 24” of silk fringe, knotted at the ends. The length makes it a little bit freaky, but maybe that was intended. I mean it is Kiki de Montparnasse! Use it to dress up a simple tank or dress, or use it for your own devilish devices…

Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: It’s so easy Being Green

April 26, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

[Every week our style guru takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you, our poor college fashionista. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities are spending $5,000 on an ensemble, you don’t have to. All you have to do is click on the goods and - boom - you can buy the entire ensemble. Yes, we know; there is a spot for her in heaven.]

Green. The color of all things great: this lovely planet, money and Starbucks straws.

Oh, and how can I forget fashion?

This season there is no shortage of kelly green. And for good reason; this color looks good on nearly everyone, and totally sets its wearer out from the crowd. From the red carpet to Old Navy, there it is - yet another cute, bright green dress shouting, “BUY ME! You have to have me for summer!!”

I’ve never been good at saying no, especially when something (or someone) so cute is talking to me.

I like to call this little sitch the big green oxymoron. I don’t have any green in my wallet to buy said green dress, but I have to have it. What is one to do? Well, aside from splitting your purchase onto three different credit cards, of course (not that I’m condoning that!).

Thankfully, you don’t have to spend a lot of green to take home the green, and I’m here to bring you these cute green dresses for cheap. You love me. I know.

Dresses:

Green works all day or all night. Here is a great causal option to throw on when you’re late. Add with some gold sandals and out you go!

green-dress1

This dress from Lulus is a great option for going day-to-night. Slip on some metallic sandals for day, then switch it to a black patent, a nude patent or a wedge for night. A black or white belt around the waist would be adorbs (that’s adorable for you non-word-shorteners) too.

This last dress is a little pricier but so. freaking. cute. And great for going out! Those straps add an even more awesome twist on an already hot dress, making this dress totally worth the extra greenbacks. Switch it up a bit and make it your own by replacing that green belt with a black or white patent one. It’s fashion perfection.

Shoe options:

Every week, I’ve featured every type of cute black shoe under the sun. Go with any of those, or, if you’re feeling blingy, here are some gold options that go great with green and are just splendid for spring/summer.

The flat is super comfortable without being dowdy, so you can rock it day or night. And that pump! It’s so neutral, so cute and so. on. sale.

Rachel Roy to Launch Diffusion Line for Macy’s

April 24, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 5 Comments

Rachel Roy for Macy's

Capsule collections and designer collaborations are now the norm. Your favorite designers, formerly out of the average person’s price reach, can now be bought at stores like H&M, Mango, Target and J.C. Penney. High-end designer Rachel Roy is the latest to join the ranks of the low-priced line designers. No, she’s not surrendering her luxury roots, but she recently announced the launch of the Rachel Roy diffusion brand for Macy’s. Rachel Roy’s collections are always full of luxurious, sumptuous pieces that any woman could wear, but not every woman could afford. Now the CFDA member will be bringing her glamorous design to the masses and I for one, am excited! Here’s more about the line:

The line will retail from $59 to $299 for sportswear, $79 to $199 for footwear, $40 to $195 for jewelry and $69 to $109 for handbags. The collection includes an array of sportswear options, including stonewashed denim skirts; fake leather jackets and fake fur vests; long, chunky cardigans; Modal jersey dresses, jumpsuits and tops; crystal-embellished cotton jersey T-shirts; brushstroke-printed jackets and coats, and bright pink leopard-printed skinny jeans. In addition to apparel, there will be a large selection of accessories, including footwear, handbags and jewelry, all retailing for under $250.

Snap up the Sexy and Sporty Jeffrey Campbell Lace-up Peep Toe Boot

Jeffrey Campbell Lace-up Peep Toe Bootie in Nude and Black

Spring is that in-between season where you’re not quite sure what to wear. Coat or jacket? Tights or bare legs? Boots or…boots? Jeffrey Campbell’s new bootie serves double duty for Spring. The Jeffrey Campbell Lace-up Peep Toe is a sexy platform boot that doubles as a sexy Spring shoe. The front lacing and cutout heel give it a sporty sandal vibe but the ankle height provides enough coverage to justify wearing it in cool or warm weather.

Snap up the sheer nude pair or the badass black bootie, (or both!) for $148 each at Free People

Interview with Hillary Flowers

April 24, 2009 by Seth Friedermann · Leave a Comment

Interview with Hillary FlowersSome people you meet in your lifetime make you wonder if they have managed to cut a deal with the Universe for a few extra hours in their particular day? They accomplish so much and are effective in so many endeavors that it seems that they have discovered some secret. Hillary Flowers makes you wonder these things. Fashion designer, singer, store owner, event planner & promoter, and brain surgeon…okay I fibbed on the last one but you get my point. Hillary owns and operates her Lower East Side boutique that showcases emerging design talent during many of those hours. Her space features her own designs, as well as fashion and accessories from other aspiring designers. “I take great joy in offering designers an opportunity to test the market, to find out what works and what doesn’t work.”

Hillary is a fascinating combination of altruistic and shrewd. She takes great joy in the fact that she has a growing reputation in New York City but you never get the sense that for her it is about ego. A case in point, she loves it when designers move on from her store to bigger and better things. “I consider myself a teacher, mentor and guide.” “Why wouldn’t I be proud of some one I helped success?” Hillary gauges designers quickly when the come to try to rent space in her store “I look for people who possess certain qualities, you have to be a risk taker and have persistence.” For Hillary Flowers it is often times more about the spirit of the designer than the look of the collection.

Hillary is a talented designer in her own right and her designs are the #1 seller in her store. But she gets so much joy from helping launch new talent into the N.Y.C scene that she rarely speaks of her own work. Hillary is a non-stop marketer and a powerful ally for the new talent that lines her small but vibrant Clinton Street shop. If you really want to see what’s the newest of the new then her store at 40 Clinton Street is a must stop. And don’t be surprised if you see her blond locks up on stage at a club where you are spending your evening. Quite frankly with all of Hillary’s talents I wouldn’t be surprised to see her driving the Q train on my way back to Brooklyn one of these nights.

See the World Through Chanel’s Lace-covered Sunglasses

April 23, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Chanel Lace Sunglasses Every woman has some accessory that is utterly useless and serves no other purpose in her life but to look cool and get other women talking. And this season it’s the Lace covered sunglasses from Chanel. As seen on the Chanel Spring/Summer 09 runway, these babies ooze Karl Lagerfeld’s imprint. If you’re expecting some sun-blocking, UV-shielding lenses, these aren’t for you. But if you want to achieve that “I’m cooler than you” pop-star bravado that Rihanna and Kanye have blithely mastered, especially when it comes to their killer shades, then pick up a pair. They’ll only set you back $895 a pop.

Available at Chanel boutiques.
